Karl Korneisel Obituary

Korneisel, Karl "Ken" 84 years old, was called to the 20th hole in the sky on July 27, 2011. An Iowan, by birth, completing higher education at the University of Iowa, Ken started his teaching career in Clinton, Iowa in 1955. In 1964, he set up home and family in Shorewood, WI, continued teaching Business Education, was golf coach and helped with the high school newspaper production. Retiring in 1987 and still an avid golfer, he sought the warmer climate of Orange City, FL, playing golf into his 80's. He loved to take his Cadillac on country-wide trips with his wife and often a grandchild or two. He loved cooking on his grill and watching the world go by. Ken is survived by his wife Millie, of 57 years; four children, Karla (John) Baker, Clark, Kirk (Kathleen) and Kristin (Todd) Olson; his grandchildren, Jason, Dan (Jackie), Nicole, Josh, Kylie and Ashlyn, who fondly called him "Tiger"; great-grandchildren, Emma, Kenadee, twins Camryn and Brooklyn; his brothers, Bob and Keith and sisters, Bunny and Kathryn. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Please join us for a memorial celebration at Libby Montana's, 5616 W. Donges Bay Road, Mequon, WI 53092, at 5:00PM, Monday, August 8, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, 4255 Westbrook Dr. Suite 219, Aurora, IL 60504 or www.angelman.org/kenkorneisel. Thank you and God bless you.

I'm mighty sorry for your loss. My grandfather, Richard Edward Korneisel I just passed away real recently this year and I happened upon this while trying to find his obituary from May. I didn't know any other Korneisels were still living in Iowa, truthfully, but to Mr. Karl and the family, peace be with you. -D.K.

My memories of "Mr." Korneisel are fond and many. I was on his golf teams at Shorewood from 1968 - 1970. He was a patient but direct coach and I always liked him. I still play golf today because of his encouragement and teaching. To his family I express my sympathy for your loss, but also know you appreciated this wonderful man with whom you shared your lives.

Dad, you may not have been the most expressive person, but some of your spoken words are indelible on my mind - "slow down, you'll live longer" (watching cars go by from our Newton Ave. porch while grilling dinner), "keep your left arm straight, and pull down through the ball" (age 6-18), "boom" (on a good night 50 times), and " how's the world treating you?". Thanks for everything, and enjoy your new rough free surroundings. As you also said many times "it's been a real". Cheers.
