Laurent Schutte Obituary

Schutte, Laurent J. "Larry" Long time Elm Grove resident, Laurent John Schutte "Larry" died peacefully in his family home surrounded by loved ones, August 23, 2012, at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Marie (nee Van Himbergen) and father of Dan and Dick. Larry was the son of Albert and Irene Schutte of Shorewood, Wisconsin. A graduate of Marquette University School of Engineering, he was president and partner of the architectural firm, Schutte, Phillips & Mochon, receiving many design awards for church, medical and school buildings in Wisconsin, including the Lalumiere Language Hall on Marquette University's campus. Larry and Marie, avid golfers, were also long time residents of Sun Lakes, Arizona. An active member of the Jesuit Parent's Guild and of St. Mary's Visitation Parish in Elm Grove for over sixty years, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marie (2000) and his son, Dick (2002). His son, Dan, of San Francisco, California and his brother, Fred (Vivian), of Appleton, Wisconsin, survive him. He was granted his wish of living out his final years in the Schutte family home through the loving devotion of his caregivers, Jimmie Mims and Katie Cameron. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 17, 2012, at St. Mary Visitation Church (1260 Church St., Elm Grove), with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
