Leonard Hobert Obituary

Hobert, Leonard "Tag" Ended this life's journey, and began his eternal life with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Born to Leonard C. and Florence (Riley) Hobert on July 26, 1938, Tag grew up in Whitefish Bay and spent summers on Beaver Lake from the age of 10 with his parents and his brother Tom. His mother passed away in 1953, and his father, Len, was blessed to marry Fran (Swanson/Feldt) Hobert who became a wonderful mom to Tag and Tom. Fran's sons, Bob and Bill completed their blended family. After studying business administration at Northwestern University from 1956-1958, Tag transferred to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from The Wharton School of Finance in 1960 with a B.S. degree in Economics. He served his country in the National Guard for several years after his graduation, and in 1962 began his business career with Underwood Olivetti. He became a salesman with Xerox in 1963 and married Mary Laughlin the same year. His first four sons were born between 1964 and 1970, followed by their fifth son eight years later. He became a manager of Paul Revere Insurance Co. in 1971, followed by several years as a General Agent for Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance. In 1982, Tag and Bill Svoboda founded Hobert & Svoboda, Inc.; an investment advisory firm in Brookfield, WI where he served as CEO and Chairman of the Board. He was past president of The Greater Milwaukee Association for Financial Planning and the Milwaukee Estate Counselors Forum. He was a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, and The American Society of CLU & ChFC. He also served on the Charles Schwab Institutional Advisory Board. He was smart as a "whip." Tag was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta parish in North Lake, Rotary Club of Milwaukee, and Chenequa Country Club. He was an enthusiastic and faithful supporter of Young Life at Arrowhead High School. He and Mary opened their home to many students over the years, including exchange students from around the world. Tag was an avid skier, teaching his five sons as well as countless other kids to ski with Snowstar and Blizzard Ski Clubs. Tag is survived by his wife, Mary and five sons, Patrick (Debbie), Kevin (Amy), Timothy (Jill), Daniel, and Michael (Elaine) as well as 10 grandchildren; Lee, Grant, Katie, Lucy, Jack, Molly, Audrey, Charlie, Malcolm, and Ella. He is also survived by brothers, Tom (Joy) Hobert, and Bill (Karen) Feldt, sisters in law Barb Feldt, Jean (Dan) Heinz, and Roseann Laughlin and brothers in law John (Judy), Marshall and Bernard Laughlin as well as many nieces and nephews. Tag was preceded in death by his brother Bob Feldt. Funeral services will be Friday, October 2nd at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish at N7462 Hwy 83, North Lake. Visitation is from 10:30 to noon followed by The Mass of Christian Burial. Internment will take place at St. Clare Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Tag's life. Rather than flowers, donations to Arrowhead Young Life, 151 E. Capitol Dr., Hartland, WI 53029, and Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, North Lake, WI 53066, would be appreciated.
