Leroy Ruttinger Obituary

Ruttinger, Leroy Melvin Age 84, of Chandler Arizona (formerly of Germantown, WI), passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 from complications of dementia. Survived by loving wife, Betty (Lucka), children, Mary (James) Fergal, Suzanne Ruttinger and Thomas (Jane) Ruttinger; cherished sisters, Dorothy Meyer and Joyce Esch; sister-in-law Marie Lucka and brother-in-law Kurt (Sharon) Lucka. Proud Grandpapa of Sarah Juchemich (John), Daniel Fergal (Robyn) and Hannah Fergal. Great-Grandpapa to Jonas, Lux, Xavier and Alex. Survived by many other relatives and friends. A quiet but strong man of singular character, Leroy will be remembered as a man who found great meaning and purpose in hard work. Worked for Zien Mechanical Contractors as a steamfitter and was a proud union man and member of Steamfitter's Local 601. Leroy had a profound connection to nature; enjoyed cultivating his garden, tending his orchard, and watching the birds and other wildlife that surrounded his home. His great love of nature and passion for opera and classical music is part of the legacy passed on to his children, grand and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Edward and Katherine (Senn) Ruttinger, dear brother Kenneth, doting sisters, Marion Trester and Lucille Ruttinger and brother-in-law Wilbert Lucka. Many thanks to the staff of Solterra Senior Living's Memory Care Unit who came to love Papa as we did. Memorials to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD). A celebration of his life will take place later this summer in Germantown, WI. "Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father." - Lydia Maria Francis Child

Worked on the Oconomowoc high school in 1965. Leroy ran the job for the fitters and was a strong union man. I was a pipecover that insulated his work. Always had a high degree of respect for Leroy. God bless you sir, may you rest in peace. Your family has my deepest and most sincerest sympathy.
