The first time I remember 'meeting' Lorraine, I was giving the minutes of a business meeting for Waukesha Deaf Organization. I was in the Interpreter Training Program and was a relatively new signer. I used a sign to indicate that someone had resigned from the Board, Lorraine shook her head and fed me a different sign. Later I asked why my sign was wrong (I wanted to know so I wouldn't use it incorrectly again) and she explained that the sign I used had a negative connotation and wasn't correct in this instance since the person had resigned due to health reasons. I was grateful that she corrected me and explained why I was wrong.
I have been grateful over the years for all the times she saved me a seat at WDO and for all the laughs we had while people hushed us and tried to get us to pay attention during games and sometimes during the business meetings.
When we had new baby llamas (crias), my husband and I took them to Lorraine and James' apartment so they could see them.
I have many wonderful memories of times spent with her, and I'll miss Lorraine very much!
