Lucille Geniusz Obituary

Geniusz, Lucille (Nee Sipowicz) 99 years young, born June 6, 1910, in Sokolka (Russian occupied Poland). Christmas Eve 1916, fled disorder of WWI with her beloved mother Michaelina (1881 - 1937) and dear brother Zigmunt (1903 - ?) to join her father Michael (1878 - 1952), who had immigrated to Detroit 6 years earlier. East by rail across Russia (first stage to Moscow in a boxcar heated by penned pigs) and Siberia, into Manchuria, down Korea, across the Strait to Japan, out from Yokohama on Feb. 3, 1917, bound for Port Townsend / Seattle on the Chicago Maru. Lucille thrived in Detroit, joined her girlfriends in mourning Valentino at the Iris. In only 3 years, graduated Northeastern High School (1927), bobbed her Mary Pickford curls to become a flapper, and enjoyed a nearly 10 year career as an accounting secretary at Hupmobile Motors. Swept off her feet in 1937 by Edward Stanley Geniusz (1913 - 2001), she married and settled in Milwaukee. Became the loving mother of Edward Tom Geniusz, Edwardine Michelle (Allen K.) Charnow, and Robert Myles (Mary Lynn Shomperlen) Geniusz. Later the delighted and loving grandmother of Wendy Makoons (Errol) Geniusz and Annmarie Fay Geniusz (husband Stephen Bockhold). The family is grateful to the staff at Golden Living Center - Colonial Manor, Glendale for the kindness and care they provided to Lucille. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 23, from 10:30 - 11:30 AM, followed by memorial at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please remember the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3071, Milwaukee, WI 52301-3071.
