Marilyn Rolfs Obituary

Marilyn Rolfs

West Bend - Marilyn Rolfs, 91, passed away on April 7 after a very long and full life. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Johanna and Arpad Masley, her husband Robert T. Rolfs, her brother Arpad Masley Jr. and her daughter-in-law Diane Rolfs. She is survived by her five sons, Robert, Mark, Michael (Carol), Christopher, Stephen (Peg), eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Marilyn was born in Madison, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. To her father's delight, she graduated with honors in 1950. She was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Parish in West Bend. She enjoyed attending Wisconsin and Notre Dame football games with her family and friends. She also enjoyed the beautiful summers in Wisconsin, playing golf at the West Bend Country Club and spending her winters in Arizona and Hawaii. And for those few who might not know, her favorite color was blue.

The family extends its gratitude to the caregivers and friends who have supported, cared for, and checked in on Marilyn in the later stages of her life. At this time, the family plans to hold a private mass and burial ceremony and looks forward to celebrating Marilyn's life in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Evans Scholars Foundation or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family. On-line guestbook and condolences available at www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.

Although I really didn't know Marilyn, her husband, Bob, was a close friend, primarily through our shared love for the game of competitive golf. Bob not only was an outstanding golfer but a legend in the support and promotion of the game. Their support of the Evans Caddie Scholarship program was known throughout the program. I recall when Bob teamed up with the late Coley Griffin, representing the West Bend CC in the State Bestball Championship, and they proved to be an outstanding team, feared by all who had to compete against them. Marilyn was certainly an important part of the Rolfs "team," and will long be remembered for her contributions in every aspect of her life.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. Perhaps you can take some comfort in an understanding of what your children must feel for you.

I was so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. she was my sponsor when I pledged kkg and also was my confirmation sponsor at Cabrini when I was in 7th grade. but best of all... she was my mothers closest friend... toni Schacht and your mom were so close and I doubt there was a day in their lives that they didn't talk or get together.
I wanted to say my sympathies... and send my prayers and my thoughts.
best, Claudia Schacht Gerner
