Solie, Marilyn K. On February 15, Marilyn passed away peacefully at St. Lukes Hospital with family present. She was 85 years old, born March 18, 1929. Marilyn didn't know that her real name was Katheryn until she needed to use her birth certificate for admission to college. Her parents were Curtis and Gladys Erickson of Westby, WI. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, being a member of the Sons of Norway. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald and her daughter Ann. She is survived by her children; David (Denise) Eric, Paul Andrew, Carl (Cyndi) Daniel and son-in-law Ned Nagy. Also survived by 6 grandchildren; Crystal, David, Jenny, Joanna, Evan and Erik and 2 great grandchildren; Georgia and Eliza. Marilyn and Jerry met while in school at Stout. They had developed lasting relationships with their classmates including annual "camping" reunions. She was able to use her home economics experience to teach at MATC and Mercy HS. She judged events at the State Fair and was part of the taste testing panels for Henris salad dressings. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 18 from 4 to 7 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Milwaukee (9235 W. Bluemound Rd.) from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. I became friends with Marilyn after the passing of her daughter Ann, who was my dearest friend. We gravitated to each other because of Ann and were lucky to fill a hole in our hearts through friendship. Marilyn will be missed by many! Please accept my heart-felt condolences.

I will miss visiting with Marilyn and Paul at the Torsk dinners at Sons of Norway and hearing stories she and my friend, Richard, exchanged about memories of their early days in Westby. Condolences to all the family.
Sincerely, Patricia Foldvary
