To Mark's Family and friends,
I am deeply saddened by the untimely loss of Mark, and regret that I did not hear of Mark's passing until 9/11/12 at a Twin Lakes Community Growth Commission meeting for which Mark was our indispensable consultant and good friend. We both shared dual credentials in our work as architects and planners, and I always looked forward to visiting with Mark in Twin Lakes, and at many conferences. My heartfelt condolences go out to Mark's wife, children, extended family and many friends. We have all lost a very good man.

I worked briefly with Mark on a project in Waukesha. And I enjoyed every minute of it, we got a lot done due to his hard work and attention to detail. I am sorry to hear of his passing. His family and friends are in my thoughts.

When I reflect of the testimony of Mark Smith's life…
I remember a man who paid attention to the details. Because the little things matter.
I remember a man who was honest and tell you the truth. Which is all that a friend could ask for.
And I remember a man that put his family first, because he knew what the big things were in life, and that is a great example for all of us.
Amen.

To Mark's family, I worked at GRAEF with Mark; although we never had an opportunity to work on a project together, I spoke with him often and enjoyed his humor and kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with you; I will miss him.

Dear Sandy and Family,
I enjoyed working with Mark immensely and even though most of our time working together was through email and phone correspondence I always considered Mark to be an integral part of my company and great friend. I'm very grateful to have worked with him and to have known him.
I'm very sorry for your loss and he will be missed.

Sandy and family,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's passing. I worked with Mark for a number of years at the Village of Twin Lakes and had great admiration and respect for him as a professional. Mostly, however, I truly enjoyed him as a person. He was always interesting and had a quick wit. I will cherish my memories of him and hope that this knowledge and your own memories of him ease your grief in this difficult time.
Peace to you all,
Dave Cox
