Mary Ann Borman Obituary

Borman, Mary Ann C., PhD Passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2018, at the age of 78. Beloved mother of Dr. Beth (Dr. Gregory) Trost, Brad (Bianca) Borman, Allison Borman and the late Scott Borman. Proud Nana of Taryn (Patrick), Cheyne and Bryce Trost; and Great-Nana of Riot Trost. Sister of Eileen Rex and Dennis Rex. Preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Irene Rex. She will be deeply missed by her cherished service dog, Lola. Further survived by other loving relatives and innumerable dear friends. Mary Ann devoted her entire life to helping the underprivileged and those in need. She was a strong advocate for women serving as a past board member of the National Women's Political Caucus and as a gubernatorial appointment to the Reproductive Health Council. She was passionate about the welfare of children, having been trained as a Developmental Neuropsychologist. She was pivotal in obtaining funding for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program due to her strength in grant proposal writing. Additionally she worked hard for and assisted in obtaining funding for migrant and HIV assistance and health programs writing numerous successful grants for the CDC and having appointments on the HIV Planning Council and WI Minority Health Council. Mary Ann also cared deeply for animals and had a special love for Mexico and its people. The impact that she made upon the lives of others cannot be measured. A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held at a future date to be determined. If desired, memorials in her name are suggested to Voces de la Frontera or the Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter.

I had the supreme pleasure working with Mary Ann at Umos. She was a brilliant inspiration and mentor to me. Her constant advocacy for the disenfranchised was her most admirable characteristic. Her loss will be deeply felt.

I worked with Mary Ann briefly doing some grant research and writing. She was certainly a special person. Her passion and dedication to helping others was such an inspiration to me. I just happen to think about her today and found her obituary. So, while two years late, I send my heart-felt condolences.

Dear Borman Family, my deepest condolences to you in this time of grief. Mary Ann has a special place in my heart and she will be greatly missed. She lived a full life, from Milwaukee to Mexico to Rio Rancho NM and everywhere in between. She affected so many lives with her passion for the least of these. She made a path for so many to better health and better lives in so many ways. She believed and saw potential in others when they could not see it themselves and she provided opportunities for them to grow and flourish. It was an honor to work with her and next to her and to be mentored by her. Cherish the memories you have of her, remember the joyful moments as you grieve her loss. Dear Allison - I remember you were always by her side, may you be filled with the peace and comfort during this time and may God provide solace in your heart.
