Mary Pogorelec Obituary

Pogorelec, Mary Margaret Age 88, died peacefully on June 15, 2015 while residing at the Jewish Home Care Center in Milwaukee, WI. Mary was born and lived in Duluth, MN up until 2007 when she moved to The Arboretum Senior Community in Menomonee Falls, WI. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother and lifelong learner. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, raising chickens, beekeeping and all things related to nature particularly birds and animals. She was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music and attending symphony concerts. Mary traveled and enjoyed many adventures before marrying her husband of fifty-one years, Fred, who died in 2006. Both were active members of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Duluth. After relocating, Mary was very active in her senior community and at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls where she made many new friends. She also volunteered her time at local elementary schools reading and serving as a pen pal to many students. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (James) Knobbe of Centennial, CO, and Janice (William) Falkenberg of Menomonee Falls, WI; brother, Nicholas (Lillian) Krmpotich of Waukesha, WI; and sister, Katherine Stinson of Brookfield, WI; two granddaughters, Lauren and Haley Knobbe; and one grandson Samuel Falkenberg. Mary's life was celebrated and she was buried in Duluth, MN on July 13. A mass in her memory will be held on Sunday, August 23 at 8:30 AM at Good Shepherd Church, Menomonee Falls with hospitality following mass.
