Michael Bonofiglio Obituary

Bonofiglio, Michael Michael Bonofiglio's full and happy life came to an end on May 19, 2007. After a year-long battle with a vicious cancer, he broke his earthly ties in favor of a more peaceful existence in heaven, where he will be able to jump into a fishing boat with his favorite dog and spend eternity trolling for his next great catch. Mike was a perfect example of a dying breed, the true family man. He never cared much for his work in computers and didn't waste time on frivolous pastimes, with the exception of his passion for The Beatles. Instead, he spent every moment he could making his family feel happy and secure. His wife, Debbie, was his college sweetheart, who drew him out into the world and taught him to enjoy traveling, to savor little things, and to smile easily. One of Debbie's favorite qualities in Mike was his mechanical mind, which made him an unmatched fix-it man around their cozy home in Waukesha. Mike raised three children, David, Laura, and Becky, upon whom he imparted his natural brilliance and infinite wisdom. Everyone who meets his children agrees that showing these three people how to live like he did was Mike's greatest accomplishment. Mike is also survived by a very loving, admiring extended family. His adoring parents, Mary and Tony, still live in Kenosha where Mike grew up and attended school. His brothers, Rick (Tim) and Dan (Rita), with whom Mike spent countless days playing in Columbus Park, also survive him. His mother and father -in-law, Don and Liz Page, sisters -in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and family friends will also miss him dearly for his good nature and generosity. Visitation Thursday, May 24 at the funeral home, from 3 - 8PM and visitation on Friday at St. Matthias Church (9306 W. Beloit Road) from 10 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Graveside Services Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, WI. Memorials to Wisconsin Humane Society appreciated. Mike's exceptional kindness, gentleness, and compassion were an example to all those around him. Although his fifty-five years of life were not nearly long enough, his was not a life that will be forgotten. Mrs. Bonofiglio,
As a close friend of David, I just want to thank you for all the times you welcomed me into your home. Mr. Bonofiglio was always enjoyable and kind, supportive of his children and their friends in all their endeavors. While I give my heartfelt sympathies for your loss, I know the Bonofiglio home will always be warm and welcoming, just as it was when Mr. Bonofiglio was there. I look forward to seeing you all again soon, and Lynette and I will be keeping you in our prayers.

Debbie, I'd like to extend my heart-felt sympathy to you and your family at this time. I worked with you my very first year at Legacy Coopers & Lybrand and never forgot sharing the joy of your wedding, and then the happiness of waiting for your first baby. I'm so sorry for your family's pain right now, but I also wish you strength, and truly hope you find comfort in your memories.

I am very saddened by the loss of a truly great man. Mike and I shared a cubicle when he worked for the City of Milwaukee (DCD). He was a very kind and caring man and will be greatly missed to all he has touched.

I only know Michael through this obituary, but it was so beautifully written, and so detailed in its descriptions, that I have a real sense of the person he was. What a model he must have been for those who knew him! This is certainly a profound loss for his family and friends, but I trust that they will long appreciate how blessed they've been to have known such a wonderful man.
