Michael Krauss Obituary

Krauss, Michael 58, of Greenfield, passed on unexpectedly on April 25, 2018 at his home from complications related to atypical Freidreich's Ataxia, a rare progressive neurological disorder he had been dealing with since 2002. Born October 28, 1959 in Monroe, Wisconsin to Ralph G. and Evelyn (Schmerse) Krauss, Mike graduated from Monroe High School in 1977 and from Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1978. Mike worked in broadcasting a few years, but his real niche and passion was working in non-profits that provided services for low-income and older adults. These included ADVOCAP in Fond du Lac, AgeAdvantage (now Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources) in Madison, and most recently, in Milwaukee at Interfaith Older Adult Programs, where he managed a home health care program, Personal Care Plus, until forced to retire in 2016 due to health concerns. Mike was very musical with a wonderful tenor voice, and was a great cook as well. Always devoted to his work and dedicated to doing the right thing for his clients and colleagues, he will also be remembered for his witty and somewhat sarcastic sense of humor. He is survived his parents, Ralph and Evelyn; his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah Krauss Smith and Gregory J. Smith; and a sister, Linda Moser, all of Monroe. A memorial service was held in Monroe on May 1, with inurnment on June 12 in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
