Deepest sympathy to Ramona from the entire O'Leary family. Our dad passed away on July 9th. He really wanted to go to Paul's memorial mass. Now they can both see each other in heaven. All my brothers and sisters remember Paul fondly. A sweet and loving man.

Paul was greatly revered and respected by my husband, Anatole(Andy)Balmy. He always spoke of him as a great cop, always a gentleman, who treated everyone with respect. He was so highly thought of by all with whom he worked.
They had a secret joke about a certain pair of shoes of Paul's and neither ever forgot to mention in recent communications. It still brought on a smile. They are sharing that joke together now. God Bless them both.

Godfather Nonnie,
You will be greatly missed. You were the best friend anyone could have and my dad, Richie Shinn, always talked so highly of you. I remember visiting you when I was child at your mom's house with my dad, and always feeling so welcome, (and slipping me those few dollars wasn't bad either). You and your mom had the most beautiful smiles and radiated such warmth. I'll never forget you surprising us, by flying in from Wisconsin to be at my dad's funeral. It meant so much to our family. I always loved receiving your letters and cards at Christmas and hearing about you and Ramona. You made a special effort to keep in touch. You will be greatly missed.
Love, Yogi

I can remember one time when my Dad, Richie Shinn wanted to visit his friend Nani and convinced a couple of us daughters (7 and 8 years old) to WALK from our house in the Sunset District all the way to the South End Rowing Club located in Fisherman's Wharf. Nani was there exercising and working out. When we finally arrived, we were thrilled to find out that "Policeman Nani" was going to give us a ride home in his car. The best part was that we rode in his comfortable, plush SEDAN, instead of our station wagon! He and my Dad were the best of friends! Thank you, Policeman Nani for always being so kind to us!
My prayers and thoughts are with your family!

My Dad, the late Richie Shinn, grew up as one of Nani's boxing buddies and was proud and honored to be his life-long friend. When Nani joined the police force, my Dad would occasionally "walk the beat" with him and sometimes bring us children down to Park station to visit. I can still hear my Dad saying to "Policeman Nani": "You're Number One, You're the Best!... and You've got Class"!
Nani will be missed but I find comfort in knowing that he will now join his boxing buddies: the late Joey Fox, Ray Lunny, and my Dad Richie Shinn. Blessings to family of Paul Cavagnaro.
Sincerely, Cissy and Violet SHINN Family
