Richard C. Emery

Menomonee Falls - Richard C. Emery, 92, died on August 4, 2021, of Lannon Wisconsin and formerly of Palmetto Florida, born to parents Charles H. Emery and Martha Wyrembeck Emery on April 2, 1929 in a boxcar in South Beaver Dam, WI during the first year of the Great Depression. From humble beginnings Richard's work ethic and ingenuity changed the course of his life.

He now joins his sweetheart, wonderful help mate and wife of 67 years, Marilynn Miller Emery who predeceased him in 2014. His family dearly mourns his passing - children: Rev. Christine (John) Weidner, Karen (Jon-Michael) Rushby, Mary Kay (Patrick) Kelly, Craig "Lee" (deceased), Brent (Julie) Emery, Elizabeth (Dr. Dave DVM) Beachem and Bennett (Deana) Emery, his grandchildren: Charles and Annie Heidenreich, Michael and Katie Weidner, Meg Epperly; Melissa and Michael Fenninger, Yvette Whittenberg, Shawn Rushby; Joe and Dan Kelly; John and Ashley Emery; Nathan Ramlow, Vince, Sam, Tina and Nicholas Curro; great grandchildren: Tighe Pallan, Maya Thurston, Ellie, Tory and Zach Weidner, Ethan and Aidan Epperly, Hannah Bingham, Tamara and Xander Rushby; Grace, Jax and Dexter Kelly; Lexus Valez and Lola Emery; Everett and Lila Ramlow, Landon, Charlie, and Mia Curro; great-great granddaughter Arya Prange.

Richard's (aka Dick, "Em") charm, wit, political commentary, and humor as well as his strong example of love and support will be greatly missed by his large family as well as by his loving companion Ruby Flickinger of Kalamazoo MI. He was predeceased by his three brothers Donald, Ronald and Ray.

As a young man he was known as "the Vliet Street Flash" speed skater, enjoyed working at Perlick then Allen Bradley, where he was part of the team that created the hands for the 2nd largest 4 faced clock in the world. In the 60's Richard ran for the offices of Milwaukee Alderman and Wisconsin State Senator. In '63 he began Emery's Cyclery & Fitness. He built his business on a 16 hour day and on a reputation of honesty and exceptional service, which continues today in the hands of two of his sons.

Former member of the Lisbon Ave. & Capitol Drive Business Associations, Milwaukee's Chapter 13 org. for racial equality, Polo Park Homeowners (Florida) where he was instrumental in the purchase of the entire development by the homeowners, (Rubidell) Riverbend Owners Association (Watertown), the Optimist Club, St James (Men. Falls) St. Leo's and Christ King Parishes; Knights of Columbus, Imperial Lakes Community Assn, OFC (Old Farts Club), and the ROMEOs (Real Old Men Eating Out) groups.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the entire staff of Dickson Hollow Presbyterian community for their loving care. Visitation will be Saturday August 14, 2021 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls from 10am until time of Memorial Service at 12pm. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to your favorite charity in Richard's name. There will never be another one like him…
