Richard,
You have been my husband and best friend for over 47 years.

I love that funny little look you got on your face when you were telling your silly little stories....
I never believed any of them.

I will always remember your kindness, your forgiveness and your great love.

I will always love you,
Jill

To the family of Richard Knueppel,
It was with much sadness we have learned of Dick's passing. As former customers of Knueppel Pharmacy, we have many fond memories of all the service received by the Knueppel Family. Growing up in the old neighborhood, the pharmacy was a fixture at 84th and Lisbon. We keep you in our prayers at this time.

Dick,
You were the best boss I ever had! To this very day I talk about how wonderful you are. You, Hilbert and Lillian gave me such a world of experience to serve those in the healthcare field. You will continue to be a part of my life and thoughts. You did a lot for me and I will never forget you. To Jill, Ed, Bill and Mark, my deepest sympathy.

Jill, Ed, Bill and Mark and family,

I was so shocked to hear of Dick's untimely passing. Dick was a true role model for the family and all of us cousins. I will always remember your wedding, Jill, and going with my parents when it had to be way below zero outside. And all the family parties at your parents house in Menomonee Falls -- the wall of LPs, shuffleboard and more! And I remember working for you -- my first job at Knueppel Pharmacy. Dick, thanks for all your patience with me during those days. I remember you telling me when your dad passed that you woke and heard him streaming to heaven...I pray you are with him now, and with your mother and mine (and my dad). Boys, I remember babysitting for you Ed and Bill and what cute little guys you were. It is hard to believe you are grown with children and grandchildren of your own.

God be with you Jill, boys and family.

Your cousin,

Richard,
I only had the opportunity of meeting you one time, but I felt as though I knew you quite well. I have been working for Knueppel Healthcare for 3 1/2 years, and every employee who knew you, had only wonderful things to say about what a caring and compassionate person you were. You will be truly missed by all those whose lives you touched. My deepest sympathies to your family.

Dear Knueppel Family:

I feel like I know your family so well and that is all through Richard. Richard was the greatest mediator that worked for Milwaukee County Mediation Department. He joined our team and our hearts. Everyone has experienced a great loss not only has a husband, dad, grandfather but also a mediator. In the past 2 years that Richard worked for our department we barely ever saw a case come through that he was not able to mediate through. But most importantly to me, I was able to see him as more then just the greatest mediator but also as a friend. Richard was so easy to talk to about everything and I am truely going to miss all of our talks. So I would like to say thank you Richard for the past 2 years. My deepest sympathies to your family and friends.

Richard,
I saw you last week on Tory Hill for the law school groundbreaking, full of energy and friendly disposition you always brought to our classes in health law, elder law, trusts and estates, and especially our law review The Elders's Advisor. You made sure we all said hello, I clasped your hand. Who could know?
You were a student in the best tradition, full of intellectual curiosity every day. We would tease you since your spouse didn't come to the law review parties (of mostly 20-somethings) to which you always brought two bottles of your German white wine. (I still have one that I'll drink in your honor!) The story that we made up was that you had an embarrassingly young trophy wife. You gallantly acknowledged Mrs. Knueppel IS your trophy wife.
Thanks for all the article abstracts.
Bless you Richard. You are missed.

For the short time that I knew Richard he had been an inspiration to me. He took me under his wing and got me going in the right direction in Mediation and introduced me to so many new and wonderful people. His smile and words of encouragement will be greatly missed. He had a way of making the sun shine on a rainy day. We co-mediated family cases and he got me started in Racine. I will always remember him for his positive attitude and his sense of humor. Richard was a great person and made friends everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your father, husband &/or friend.

Working with you was an expierence in itself. Being my 1st full-time employer & having the challenges of High School @ the same time was difficult but you always understood. While working homework during lunch, you were always there to answer my business questions for business class - Thank You!!!

You are going to be truely missed by everyone.

Dad
Thank you for your love, support and encouragement. Thank you for never missing an opportunity to praise an accomplishment or offer guidance when needed. Thank you for teaching me life lessons without me even knowing it. Thank you for your generosity in all things and for making sure our family spent quality time together. Thank you for showing us that you CAN make your dreams a reality, to never give up and to find humor in all situations. You are one of my heroes and I will never forget you.
I’ll love you always,

Richard's family,
I am a former employee of Marquette Law School, and I remember Richard well. He always had a smile on his face, which illuminated any room he entered. Furthermore, my Grandpa frequented Richard's pharmacy, always noting how pleasant Richard was. You certainly had an angel here on earth!
May God give you strength and peace during this difficult time.

I knew Richard as a classmate and friend. He made a tremendous contribution to the Marquette Elder’s Advisor law journal (he used to say that he put the “Elder” into the journal!), and provided a unique and welcomed perspective in many of our mutual courses. He truly has been a blessing to countless of people. I will miss him greatly.

Mark & Janna and the entire Knueppel Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you during this difficult time in your lives. We know that Dick was a very loving and thoughtful person with a great sense of humor. Todd and I and the other Schram Family members have many fond memories of Dick and Jill and their families as we gathered together each and every year to enjoy our summers on Friess Lake. Those memories continued with the next generation by watching Travis and Chad grow up with Mark which has turned into a life long friendship between the boys. Please know that as your friends we love and care about you and are here for you today, tomorrow, next week and forever.

To Richard's Family,
I was one of Richard's law school friends at Marquette. I was a bit intimidated to start law school at the advanced age of 40, so imagine my surprise and delight that so many other "non-traditional" students were there to welcome me. Richard was one of the best and brightest. Everyone adored him. Along with Dawn, Mike, Mark, Nancy, Art and quite a few others we had a lot of fun both in and in out of classes. When things got tough, Richard's sense of humor would lift us up. He always took the high road and was quite an example to follow. He is one big reason why I liked that school so much. I saw Richard's graduation photo in his son Mark's email and it just says it all. That terrific smile on that happy face. That is what I remember best. Richard has and always will hold a delightful spot in my heart. I will miss him.

Richard-When I began working at Knueppel's, you were going back to school to study law. I saw you for only a short time each week, but each time I was greeted with a warm smile and a happy "hello". It's those I'll miss the most. Thank you for welcoming me into your extended family. For that I will always be grateful. May God bless you and your family. Patty

As one of Richard's law school professors at Marquette, I knew him as a warm, bright, dedicated, curious friend. He added to the light and warmth of the Law School in wonderfully welcome ways. Richard is Marquette, and many more things, and always will be.

Richard- I was truly blessed to have you in my life, if just for a short time. Your support, encouragement and confidence you had for me in my time of need are the true measure of the man I knew. Thanks for the life lessons. I know you are now in better position to do something about those Milwaukee Bucks....I'll be watching. Love always, Kevin

I had the honor of having Dick as a student in several classes at the Marquette Law School. His enthusiasm for his second career was unbounded, and it was a joy to have him in class. In my seminar on Comparative Constitutional Law, he wrote a fascinating paper on Danish constitutionalism, a topic that interested him largely because of his interest in his family's Scandinavian heritage.

I saw him at the groundbreaking for the law school, and I regret that I didnt have one last chance to speak with him. He was a wonderful human being and the legal profession can use more people like him.

To Jill and Family;
Dick was a close friend for over 50 years. He and Jill are Godparents to my daughter, Joi. Dick was always a wonderful person to spend time with and a dear friend. In the 50's we shared our love for "Rock-N-Roll" music and Corvettes. The world was a better place with him in it. I will miss you.

Grandpa,
I will never forget the memories we had together. You were a great husband, father, grandfather, and especially great grandfather! I am so glad Dylan was able to have known such a great man. You are one of the funniest people I know especially around grandpa Harry. You have inspired me in so many ways to be a good person, father, and most of all a hard worker. You have taught me that it is never to late to learn and grow. Thank you for everything! Your spirt resides in us all and always will. -Little E-

From the day I was born, you inspired me. When I struggled with reading, you made it fun.
