Robert Hilgendorf Obituary

Hilgendorf, Robert E. "Bob" Born to Eternal Life Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Elizabeth for 63 yrs. Loving father of the late Daniel, Andrew (Beverly), Sara Young and Maggie (Kevin) Haak. Dear grandfather of Erica Simon, Jonathan (Stephanie) Hilgendorf, Danielle (Dustin) Krueger, Rebecca and Ryan Haak. Great-grandfather of Emma. Brother of Grace (Arthur) Horn and the late Jeanne Kainz. Further survived by nieces and nephews Carolyn (Richard) Sellers, Jacob and Michael (Alanna) Horn, other relatives and friends. Bob was a US Air Force Veteran and a 1951 graduate of UW Madison. He was a very intelligent man with a remarkable memory for names, dates and stories and events from the past. He enjoyed world history, especially the two World Wars. He was very dedicated to the welfare of the mentally ill and devoted much of his time to their concerns. Despite his own personal struggles, he remained a patient man and most importantly a faithful servant of the Lord, reading his Bible daily. Visitation at the funeral home Monday at 9:30 AM, followed by funeral services at 11 AM. Interment St. John Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, namigrm.org, or 3200 S. 3rd St., #6, Milw., WI 53207, are welcomed.
