From Robs cousin Tim Delaney in Scottsdale, AZ.
Rob was a great guy, and the best darned fisherman I've ever had the chance to wet a line with.
The Murray family owned a small cabin in northern Wisconsin, and as youngsters, we practically lived there every summer. As we grew older, it seemed we spent less and less time at the 'Chute. On our last visit to the cottage, Rob was, as usual, pounding the water to try and catch a muskie. Note that he'd being trying his entire adult life with no luck. Ol' Pa Murray must have been looking down from the heavens, as on our last trip together, Rob hooked and landed a huge muskie. And as that fish was thrashing and jumping around the bottom of the boat, Rob was hooting and hollering "Muskie" "Muskie". By the time Rob rowed back to the cottage, there was quite a crowd of local neighbors all there to congratulate Rob. As I recall, we spent the remainder of that weekend in celebration. And while Rob had caught his share of huge fish over the years, this one was very special.
Rob, Hope I expect paths will cross again, and you can show me a few of those special fishing holes I'm sure they have in heaven.
I'll always cherish all those days on the 'Chute we all spent together.

From Robs cousin Tim Delaney in Scottsdale, AZ.
Rob was always a good guy, and one of the best fishermen I've ever had the pleasure of wetting a line with. Our families practically grew up in a cottage in northern Wisconsin each summer. After we had all grown and the cottage trips became infrequent, Rob, Kevin, my brother Dan and I decided to make one last trip to the 'Chute. (Note that Rob had been trying to catch a muskie on the Chute his entire life). Somehow, on our last trip together, Ol'Pa Murray must have been smiling down, as Rob hooked and landed the biggest muskie I had ever seen. He was hooting and hollering from the boat like a wild man, and by the time he rowed to shore, that muskie had practically destroyed the boat by flipping all over, a huge crowd had gathered at the shore. Rob was beaming from ear to ear, and we celebrated Robs huge success the rest of the weekend.
There was also a time on Halloween evening that Rob dressed up like an old lady, rocking on an old chair in front of the house ready to give out candy to kids. Rob being Rob he had scary music playing in the background and was coaxing the trick or treaters to "come closer" for their treats. Next thing you know, the Greendale cops were at the house telling Rob to knock it off as he was scaring the kids.
Always a huge Marquette Warriors fan, he helped his dad in the training room, and we always went to MU games with him for many a year.
Rob, you'll be missed. It was a great ride, I'm sure our paths will cross again someday on some muskie lake. Hope you're out there as we speak pounding the water. Tim
