I am deeply sorry for your lost. I reconnected with Anute Ruth only for a short time but looked forward to her letters at Christmas and how every one was doing. My most flavorite memory was of the West Allis western day parades and sitting in front of the shoe shop.

I loved her smile and great sense of humor. She always had a kind word and thought the best of everyone. Her enthusiasm and energy for enjoying life was incredible. I always looked up to her as a great role model and wanted to be like her in many ways. I loved listening to her stories about family because it helped me feel connected and helped me understand where I came from and what I was made of. I still chuckle to know we fall asleep around 9:00 pm because it is “in our genes.” Aunt Ruth, you will be forever in my heart. Love, Marjie

We are so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She was a beautiful person.
I can remember getting shoes repaired at your Dad & Mom's shop. They were alway's so pleasant & friendly.

My deepest sympathies, but also my great rejoicing that she has received the goal of her faith—the salvation of her soul! This is what she lived for!
I'm one of those who wasn't related by blood, but called her "Grandma" anyway. Thanks to her family for sharing both Grandma & Grandpa with us. They both hold a very special place in my heart. I'm thankful we'll get to spend eternity with them, but I'm wondering if heaven has enough toilet paper for them to TP everyone's mansion?
I was so blessed to know and love her—and be loved by her. Her faith, witness, and love set an example for those of us who follow behind. She was such a blessing! I'm hoping that my children will blessed with a "Grandma Merten" in their lives too, and hoping that I can be a "Grandma Merten" to someone. Not sure that will happen, though, because she was one of a kind!
I could go on and on (and it seems I already have), but those of you who knew her know that words are inadequate to sum up how lovely, gracious, and fun she was! I'll miss you, Grandma! But, thanks to Jesus, I'll see you soon....

Nancy, Mrs. Merten was one of the very special people on this earth. She always had a smile and was so pretty,I loved to hear her laugh.
God took a rose and put it in his flower garden,and now she has become an angle that will look after you and your family.
