Dear Mimi and Bill,
When fathers depart this world they seem to also carry with them their families' love. That is a good thing, but it also creates a special quality of pain. Great parts of us are taken away with them. As you feel this in all manner of loss and emptiness, please know that we suffer this deprivation with you, albeit in proportionate measure. You are not alone today, nor will you be in the months ahead. We join our prayer with yours and hold you fast. Shellie was my mom,Shirley Lawent's first cousin. I would see Shellie quite often in my retirement job at the Wisconsin Atletic Club. He was a good man and will be missed by many.
