Shirley D. "Wiz" Holtz

Shirley Holtz Obituary

Holtz, Shirley D. "Wiz" (Nee Wisland) Wiz began her 83 years in Milwaukee, grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1942. Since her graduation from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1946 as a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, she has been an ardent Wisconsin Badger fan and "Tailgater". Following her marriage to Harry in 1947, she lived in Wauwatosa and later moved to Elm Grove near the Village Park where their seven children thrived. Wiz was always involved in their church and community activities and as children left home, much of her life with Harry was filled with exciting travel. Their home was always a welcome place for holidays, family gatherings and festive parties with the special friends who blessed her life. Wiz died peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2007 in her home at Harwood Place in Wauwatosa, where she and Harry have lived since 2003. Born December 3, 1924 to Henry and Gladys. Loving wife of Harold L. "Harry" for over 60 years. Mother of Pete (Barb, nee Goodman), Thomas (Rhonda, nee Bergstrom), John, Andrew (Anne Marie, nee Letourneau), Robert (Marcie, nee Reilly), Julie Holtz-Cohen (Phil), and William (Dee-Ann, nee Bressler). She was also the sister of Richard (Lorraine) Wisland, the late Henry (Lou) Wisland, sister-in-law of Jeanne (Edward) Forbes and the late Mary Louise "Liz" Holtz. She will be missed by 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Friends may gather at the Funeral Home Wednesday, December 19, 4:30-7:30 PM. Memorial Gathering will continue at ST. EDMUND'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 14625 Watertown Plank Rd., Thursday at 10 AM. Mass of the Resurrection at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Edmund Memorial/Endowment Fund are appreciated. Condolences to: www.krausefuneralhome.com KRAUSE FUNERAL HOMES and Cremation Service 9000 W. Dear Holtz Family, I feel truly blessed to have cared for Wiz throughout the past few months. Wiz was a angel here on earth and now she is an angel next to God. I am forever greatful that I was chosen to come into your lives at this most difficult time and share with Wiz all of her stories and pride in each one of her children and her wonderful husband Harry. I am going to miss her greatly. It was a pleasure to get to meet so many of the people that Wiz held closest to her heart and my only wish is that I was able to make this experience a little less painful. Julie you are an amazingly strong woman and you showed such courage through all of the trying times with Wiz. Andy and Bill your tireless nights with Wiz meant the world to her. Harry you can now carry Wiz with you in your heart forever, she's in heaven now and she's on your side. It was an honor and a blessing to get to know you all and God bless your entire family. All my love and with deepest sympathy. Patty Goelzer RN Horizon Hospice
