My sincere sympathy for your loss. We have never been acquainted. I met Steve in 1969 when we were both freshman at UWM and used to dine together in the Holton Hall cafeteria. One of my fondest memories of Steve was trying to teach him to dance and as I'm sure you know, Jeanette, that was not an easy task, but he was always a good student. I have lived in Wauwatosa since 1990 and used to run into Steve in various places around the village. Not once did he mention his illness or complain, but always spoke highly of his family. I will miss our brief chats and hope that your happy memories continue to keep you company as you heal. Libby Ernest

Hi Jeanette and Family,
Harry & I are really sad to know that Steve is not with us any longer. We have such fond memories of your whole family. Steve is such a wonderful person. He will be truly missed. We haven't seen you for maybe 25 years but my memory is clear of the precious times we spent together as neighbors raising our children. We plan on seeing you in May, to honor Steve. Our thoughts are with at this difficult time. Ellen & Harry

Dear Derris, Jeanette and the entire Taylor family,
My mom sent me Steve's obit this morning. I am so sorry for your loss. I know a note from me is quite a blast from the past. Seeing Steve's photograph here triggers a rush of happy memories from my youth, many of them spent at your home. Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. Derris, I know our friendship at such a young age seems like it took place in another lifetime. I tried to find you on Facebook but it turns out you're not the only Derris out there. I know this is a difficult time but if you ever wanted to reconnect I would be happy to know what you're up to these days. I'm quite sure that I'm the only Noel Gikling out there. My first and last name without a space (no caps) followed by @gmail.com is one way to find me. I'm also on Facebook. Much love! noel
