Steve took me herding cattle at his work a few times. He was such a great cowboy, great horses and the best dog's ever. Enjoyed some wonderful times riding up to Grey Meadow, and Maggie lakes. I miss my Spuddy.

I met Steve porterville when I ran a motel he stayed at the motel him and his dog he was great guy first time I seen a dog climb a tree he will be missed love talking fishing with him

I’m sorry but I’m just learning about Steve’s passing. He and I were classmates for a year or two in Bowdon Georgia, I suppose during a time that Bob was with the Braves . I give my condolences to the Uecker family although they are certainly late.

I'm very sorry to hear about Steve's passing. I worked with him at Guido's restaurant in Vail, CO in the 1970s. Great guy! We had a lot of laughs!

Uecker family: We attended the Springville Rodeo last night and they did a beautiful tribute to Steve. He certainly was loved and respected by the cowboy community. They brought his riderless horse into the arena and expressed their grief at his passing and shared the joy of knowing him. They also said a beautiful "cowboy prayer" at the end. So sorry for your loss. He leaves many friends behind that will have a void in their life because of his passing.

We met Steve several years ago when he gave a home to a little dog that we rescued. He was a very kind and loving man,, he always had room for one more. We will miss him and his loving and kind ways. Kent and Lynn...

So Sorry to hear! I met steve while building my log home home a few years ago. What a great person. I really enjoyed time spent with Steve. One of the few real people you meet. So sorrr\y I won't be able to spend more time with him, RIP.

I am so sorry for your loss and I will pray that God sends you His peace and comfort through this difficult time. I was a high school classmate of Steve's and his friendship and incredible sense of humor made those some very great years. I lost contact with him quite a while back but it sounds like he went on doing what he did best, bringing joy, fun and laughter. It was a blessing to have known him.

My condolenses to the Uecker family, I was one of the lucky people to know Steve. My heart has a pain from knowing he is past. I will always treasure the times in the Sierra Mountains, just kickin it on a ride to Maggie Lakes, or Gray Meadows with my best friend. Steve was my best male friend, spent time with him in the Sierra Mountains, local acrea's with friends.Spent wonderful days riding in the mountains he loved so much, He came to visit my Dad and Sone, and I before he left.Did not know it would be the last time. Please know what a treasure Steve was to anyone lucky enough to spend even a short time with him. He loved his life, and wasn't shy about letting people know how much he cared for them. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Uecker family. I was a classmate of Steve's at St Anthony Grade School and Meno Falls East High. We were great pals in 8th grade and I can still remember his smiling face and his wonderful sense of humor. I had lost contact with him long ago, but in reading his obit, it seems that he kept those attributes throughout his life. May you find comfort and peace during this difficult time of deep sorrow and know that he touched so many people's lives in such a fun and positive way!

I was an old grade school classmate of Steve's. Even in those early years Steve and I would joke and laugh constantly. He always had a smile on his face and he made my transition moving from Detroit to Menomomonee Falls bearable. I am very sad for your loss and I have so many fond memories of Steve. I know you all will miss him deeply.

We met Steve in 1980 in Shafter ca. He loved his horses he was a great guy and stayed himself true to his long time friends. Rip Steve as all your friends from Shafter and Bakersfield will miss u and to ur family u have our condolences...As valley fever takes many people ... Please know you are in the thoughts of many who were fortunate enough to know Steve from his ranch, in the valley, to the high-country of the Sierra Nevada. He had a great heart, a great laugh … he was a great person. The high-country will seem vacant awaiting his spring arrival. I do find some solace when I attempt to imagine how wonderful the Land where he now rides.
