Block, Thomas H. "Tom" Passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Thursday, June 14, 2018, age 90. Loving father of Leslie (Jonathan) Schweitzer, Donna (Richard) Schmidt, and Linda (Timothy) Schulman. Proud Grandfather of Thomas (Danielle), James (McKenzie), and Jeffrey Schweitzer; Becca (Ryan) McCann and Rachel Schmidt. Great-grandfather of Jack and Lorraine "Lola" Schweitzer. Preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Beverly, and his second wife Julianne. Further survived by his step children Craig, Dawn, Scott, and other relatives and friends. Tom retired as a commercial artist from The Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed painting, wood working, hunting and fishing. Tom was of great faith and accepted the challenges of his disease with admirable grace and dignity. He kept his wit and humor until the end. Special thanks to all who cared for Tom, especially the caregivers at Elizabeth Residence and Badger Hospice. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at OUR LADY OF GOOD HOPE CATHOLIC CHURCH (7152 N. 41st St. Milwaukee, WI 53209) from 9am - 11am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Mequon. In lieu of flowers, Memorials appreciated the Alzheimer's Association in Tom's name.

I recently came across this picture from when I worked at the Journal and sat next to Tom for over 5 years. I decided to look him up and am so sorry to hear of his passing. Tom and I chatted almost everyday while we sat at our drawing boards. He was always a pleasure to be around, fun to talk to and would often talk about his family. I hope you don't mind that I uploaded the photo. It's pretty silly. It was Hawaiian shirt day at work. You can see Tom kneeling in front. I'm leaning against the desk in shorts. Again, my heartfelt condolences on your loss.

Dave and I are so sorry we were unable to attend the services, but our thoughts and prayers were with you all. I have the fondest memories of my Uncle Tom talking with my father about their lives as brothers. I saw/heard the very special love they had for each other, and gave to us all. Leslie & Family, My prayers are with you in the passing of your Father, I have lots of fond memories but one that will always stick out is his Christmas pants as my son has now seemed to carry on that same tradition of wearing some quite similar.
