Can't believe it's been a year already..I am sure it's not been an easy year for any of you..Dr Engel is still in my thoughts..In fact I had a dream about him a few weeks ago. He was at Condell, a load of patient charts and a smile on his face. He said he hadn't seen me in a long time and it was good to see me again. That was it. He looked good. Healthy and handsome! Just thought you'd like to know if you believe in such things. If not you're sure I'm nuts now right?

My condolences to Lisa and Tom's family I was very saddened by the death of Dr Engel. He made my years working in ICU challenging and frequently amusing.
One of my first memories of Tom is when he first came to Condell and was desperately in need of help in his office and somehow I got coerced into helping for a day.It was a day I will never forget, as we all know he was a little intense! Because of that day we became friends and I now have some great memories!

To the family of Dr. Engel - I wanted to express my condolences during this difficult time. What a loss this is !
Dr Engel was my father's cardiologist during the last several years of his life. In those years I had the opportunity to confer with the doctor many times as did my 8 siblings. To a person we were all in awe of not only his medical knowledge but also his bedside manner, My father, who was quite a "to the point" kind of person, held Dr. Engel in very high esteem, appreciated his attention to detail and also his analytic approach. He and we loved his sense of humor also !

We felt Dr. Engel was truly a patient's doctor and advocate ,went out of his way for my Dad in dozens of instances, and saw him several times contact and overrule other staff @ Condell when he felt it necessary. My Dad said it best - a good man !

Dear Lisa, Tommy, Timmy, Tyler, Lauren, Ryan and little Ryan... I am so very sorry for your loss. Tom always included my son Dylan (little Ryans big brother) in so many of your family activities and I always thought he was so thoughtful to do that. I can't believe he's gone.. so very sad.

Just last week we were talking about Dr. Engel and how much we missed having him as our doctor. He always - and I mean always - took the time to see us if we had questions or concerns about my husband's health. I still can picture him standing in the corner of the examining room, wearing his green scrubs, and paging through my husband's rather extensive file. Whenever he'd tell a us funny story, his smile would light up his face. He knew his patients so well! Once he looked at my husband and said he noticed a weight loss of about 5 pounds - actually, it was 4 pounds. Amazing! I know that my 82 year old husband is alive today because of 25 years of Dr. Engel's caring, knowledge, and expertise.
He will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will keep him and all of the family in our prayers.

Lisa, I am so shocked to hear about Dr Engel's death. It is a horrible loss. He and I got along well once I knew what he expected out of the nurses taking care of his patients. He was an extremely intelligent man and expected all of us to be right up there with him. I am especially concerned about the boys. He was so supportive of them and seemed like he would put his life on hold just to be with them. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
