Tom and his father, Ken, were instrumental in my developing a Van Hoof family history and genealogy. It was their visit to Holland and meeting Bridget Kranen Van Hoof in Waalre that connected us to our roots and led to a wealth of information about our early history. Subsequently, in phone interviews with Tom, I experienced the richness of Van Hoof friendliness, open mindedness, cheerfulness and fun. He was one of the highlights in my recording family history.

Many great memories over the years with Tom, including our families camping and riding Elroy-Sparta back when the kids were little. He's certainly leaving a huge void, and a lot of warm and cherished memories.

I will miss my Uncle Tom but I know he is riding his bike and enjoying his eternal life now. I will see him in every biker I see on the road or every sailboat I see on the water. The cottage and horseshoes will never be the same, but I will make sure to remember that you are watching over all of us and that you are keeping Grandma & Grandpa company. Although it has been many years, I cherish the memories from that long ago time when our kids were small. I am so glad that I was able to reconnect with Tom through cards and emails this past year.
