William Smith Obituary

Smith, William C. Born May 15, 1931, departed this life to be face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 4, 2013. He gracefully transitioned to eternity at home in his sleep. Survived by his wife, Joyce (nee Pease) of nearly 61 years; daughters Sheri (Lt. Gen. Steven Hummer USMC), Linda and Judy; grandson David (Stephanie) Hummer; sister Lillian M. "Sue" Ellingsen (Don) Nelson; nephews Don Ellingsen and Mark (Shari) Ellingsen; nieces Kristin (Peter) Ellingsen-Hurlin and Heidi (Richard) Hogan. Preceded to eternal life by his parents J. William and Lillian M. (nee Axtell) Smith and nephew Jim Ellingsen. Bill's passion was studying the Word of God under the ministry of his pastor-teacher to fulfill God's plan, will, and purpose for his life. His challenge to friends is believe salvation is the grace gift of God to man, received by personal faith alone in Christ alone (John 3:16 and Eph 2:8,9) No Services. Memorials to Berachah Church, 2815 Sage Rd., Houston, TX 77056.

Bill hired me for my first salaried position out of college. He was a tough businessman and taught me many of the fundamentals and critical business principals that I still use today. He was a true character and a good man. I have many fond memories of working with him for 6 years. My condolences go out to the his Family.

I joined Fluid Management as a young man fresh out of college. Bill was an excellent mentor and influence for me and so many others! It was a true pleasure to get to know Bill. My condolences to the Smith family and all of Bill's friends and former colleagues. Jay D

Wanting Memories: "I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me to see the beauty of the world through my own eyes ... I think on the things that made me feel so wonderful when I was young. I think on the things that made me laugh, made me dance, made me sing. I think on the things that made me grow into a being full of pride. I think on these things for they are true ... I thought that you were gone but now I know you're with me. You are the voice that whispers all I need to hear. I know a please, a thank-you and a smile will take me far. I know that I am you and you are me and we are one. I know that who I am is numbered in each grain of sand. I know that I've been blessed again and over again ..." Miss you, Dad. Love - Sheri
