William Tews Obituary

Tews, William L. Of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2008, at the age of 72. "To my sweet William, you will always be my best friend, soul mate and beloved husband", ~Sandy A warmhearted dad who strove to give character and strength to his children. Michael (Jennifer) Tews, Ursula Nygaard, Ingrid Ornburg, Elizabeth Lemley, Julie Schaller, and Michele (Russ) Schmidt. A really special grandpa to his "fan club", William, Harrison, Ava, Gunnar, Ingaliese, Michael Todd, Isabella, Emily and Leah. Dear brother of Karen (Russ) Redenz and Marlene Gilbert. William also was preceded to heaven by his parents Wilma and Leonard Tews and grandson Matthew. Also remembered by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill served as president and CEO of Tews Company. He was president of the Builders Exchange of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Redimix Concrete Association and he served on the National Redimix Concrete Association Promotional Committee. Bill was a member of the Cedar Lake Yacht Club. He was an avid sailor and skipper of E and C Scows, as well as a sailing judge of Blue Chip Regattas. Bill also judged E, C, MC and F boat races. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Milwaukee, Cosmopolitan Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce Milwaukee, The Club at Pelican Bay in Naples, FL, Wisconsin Club, The Mirabel Club in Scottsdale, AZ, West Bend Country Club, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Fin and Feather Club, and the Safari Club International. Bill served on many other boards and committee's too numerous to mention. Bill was a graduate of Wauwatosa High School and went on to graduate from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa in 1960. Bill was on the long range planning committee for Luther College. Visitation Monday, August 11, at the funeral home from 4PM to 7PM. Visitation Tuesday at the funeral home from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM followed by graveside services at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorials to the Cedar Lake Yacht Club, The American Heart Association or Luther College Decorah, Iowa would be appreciated. To know Bill was to love Bill, a man of integrity whose strong character and presence couldn't help but impress. A strong Christian, a patriot, a conservationalist, a sailor, an outdoorsman. But most of all, a great family man and husband. His presence and his quick wit will be dearly missed, but always remembered. Words cannot describe our love and our loss. P.S. This is Bill Tews and I approve of this message. Sympathy Expressions www.BeckerRitter.com BECKER RITTER Michael Feerick Associate 14075 W. North Ave. Brookfield (262)782-5330

Our sympathy to Bill's family & friends. I had the rewarding opportunity to serve on the WRMCA board with Bill for several years. It was fun to get to know him at board/committee meetings, & to learn from him. He was a leader!

I am sad to say that I never got to meet Bill in person. However, in knowing some of his family members, and concrete industry colleagues who speak so highly of him, I am honored to have known that he set such a good example in our community. My thoughts are with the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family today and in the future. I am sorry that I cannot attend. I knew Bill for several years and had many good and interesting dealings with him during that time. He is with God and looking at us from there.

It was my pleasure to work with Bill for several years on his advertising for Tews Company. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great raconteur. I'll never forget some of the stories he told me about hunting polar bear in Alaska. Bill was an original.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Bill through Bob Tews and will never forget the great times we enjoyed fishing at Wildcat Lodge. Most people reading this will not know who I am but I consider it a privilege to have know Bill. The time spent with you was not great, but the memories are. God Bless.

I'll miss Uncle Bill's laugh. He was always a lot of fun. God Bless him for trying so hard to make me a better "F boat sailor". I do know that we have a great new Guardian Angel.
Love always, Leanne
