Dear Sheila and family,
Martin will be missed. Just spending ten a few moments with him told one that he was a highly intelligent man and the range of his interests was extraordinarily wide. He was also a very generous man donating to those causes he considered important and also with his friends and family to which he was devoted.
We were lucky to know him as a neighbor for more than the last ten years.

I am so sorry! Martin was a dear friend and sat with my husband when our son died. He was junior warden at our church
when I was church secretary, and he was always available when we needed him.

Enigmatic to some, Martin was a monumental member of the Bellingham and Whatcom community. He could summon the courage to throw his support around for causes he believed in.

I remember Mr. Nickerson walking the family dog, Boy, every day- rain, drizzle or during a down pour- around the block of the Nickerson family´s Juneau home. I also recall dinners around the Nickerson family table when there were lively discussions of current events and a focus on our future plans as we were transitioning from tweens to adolescents. Those were happy times that we were able to spend with him that I will remember forever. My thoughts are with the Nickerson family now and always. Thank you Martin, for playing the role you did in all of our lives.
