Paul Keithahn Obituary

Paul Jordan Keithahn was born in Juneau on May 5th, 1962 and grew up on Fritz Cove Road. From a young age he developed a love of boating, sometimes going fishing with his mom in the mornings before afternoon-kindergarten. It is befitting that he should find his final resting place in the waters that he navigated his whole life.

His first summer jobs were commercial fishing. He loved the outdoors and hunting as well as carpentry. He always had a boat, or two.

He attended WWU and became a designer/builder. At an early age he bought property and built himself a cabin, which he enlarged over the years into a welcoming home for his family. He was an excellent finish carpenter.

In 1994 he married Julie Hamilton, and soon they had a daughter Emily who is now in her first year of college. Emily was the shining star of his life; he was a loving and devoted father.

Paul built a cabin in Tenakee Springs in 2001 and was very involved in that community. He spent summers there building homes, fishing and hunting, helping neighbors and raising Emily. Most recently Paul served on the Tenakee City Council.

Paul shared with us his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor and ability to recall verbatim jokes, poems, movies and songs that tickled his fancy. He could always make us laugh! Paul had a big heart, he cared deeply.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving mother Beverly. He is survived by his wife Julie and daughter Emily, by his father Richard Keithahn, sisters Maria Keithahn Marks (Steven), Ranie Keithahn and Connie Keithahn (Mike Rawson), and by nieces Mikelle and Shannon Keithahn Marks, and Megan Anderson and Ryia Waldern; his nephews Olin Keithahn Rawson, Kris Anderson and Eric Waldern; his father-in-law Richard Hamilton, and sisters-in-law Susan Anderson and Heidi Hamilton. He had so many good friends, he cherished you all. We will never forget you Paul. We love you to the moon – always

A memorial is planned for 4pm, October 4th at the Juneau Yacht Club. Friends of Paul are encouraged to bring stories of good times. There were so many. His family can be reached c/o 14040 N Douglas Hwy, Juneau 99801

I was saddened to hear the news and my heart goes out to the family. When I think of Paul I start smiling. He was a prankster in Junior High. We were kicked out of the library a few times. The "Don't pull this book out sign" taped to a book holding up the book shelf full of books but with shelf holder clips removed was classic Paul.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please be comforted by the fact that God cares about you personally and will help you get through your grief.. He says "I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears" . I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5. One way that he will heal us, is by wiping away death, mourning, and outcry. And re-establish the earthly paradise once lost, where you can hope to be reunited with your husband, father, and son, Paul.
