Ronald Forneris Obituary

Ronald Alfred Forneris was born to the late Alfred and Thelma Forneris July 10, 1947 in Los
Angeles, California. He passed away October 7, 2023 in Milwaukie, Oregon after a lengthy
illness at the age of 76, with his daughter Heather at his side.
Ron grew up in southern and northern California, and graduated from San Diego Military
Academy in 1965. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and flew in C-141 airplanes
as a radar tech, or "scope dope" as he called it, during his tour of duty in Viet Nam. He
returned home to train and receive his private, multi-engine, and instructor pilot licenses, flying
primarily out of Sacramento Executive Airport as well as doing Search and Rescue out of
Juneau, Alaska. He maintained an intense interest in flying and airplanes throughout his life.
After short stints working in real estate and as a ramp and counter agent for PSA Airlines in
California, in 1981 Ron moved to Juneau, Alaska where he joined the Juneau Police
Department. Ron served the City and Borough of Juneau for the next 21 years and in 2002 he
retired from the Juneau P.D. with the rank of lieutenant, having served within the Patrol,
Community Service, and Criminal Investigations units.
Ron loved his grandchildren. He once picked them up from school during a snowstorm, which
took them five hours to drive just seven miles to home! He was also an animal lover which
included his two beloved dogs Oscar and Elvis, as well as numerous cats he rescued throughout
the years. He loved his many cars, trucks, and motorcycles, and he loved to eat! He had a big
personality, a big laugh, and he filled every room he entered. He was well loved by family and
friends and will be dearly missed.
Ron is survived by his daughter Heather Forneris, and three grandchildren Spencer, Parker, and
Payton Sheahan, stepchildren Kendra and Bryan Koster, sister Sharon (Jim) Ellisor, as well as
many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his
younger brother Brett Badger.
There will be a private military service at the Willamette Veterans Cemetery, and he will be
interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.

I loved this man. I was going through a rough year in 1990 with a pending divorce and a child who was always getting into trouble. He intervened on several occasions when I was being harassed by my ex and some trouble my son got into. When I decided to move to Texas he wrote me the best reference any person could ask for.

Ron took me on my first airplane flight around Sacramento. His greatest legacy is his daughter and his grandchildren.

My husband used to be a custodian at the downtown Police Station and Ron was very friendly and treated my husband with great respect. I got to meet him as well and he was such a genuinely nice person. He always said "hi" and asked us how our day was going. Rest In Peace Ron, thank you for your service and much respect.
