Shelly Eidsness Memoriam

Shelly K. Eidsness, 62, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Burien, Washington, after a 2 and 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born October 22, 1960 in Dell Rapids, SD. Shelly moved to Juneau in August 1988, and worked various jobs in Juneau with the Juneau School District, and Association of Alaska School Boards. Shelly was always a strong advocate for youth. She moved from Juneau in 2010 and spent time in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Burien, Washington, and Overland Park, Kansas. In June of 2022 she moved back to Burien, Washington. Shelly battled through her cancer treatments with grace, courage, and tenacity. She was a "trooper" until the end. Many thanks to her medical team under the direction of Dr. Urban, MD at the Fred Hutch Cancer Treatment Center at the University of Washington. Shelly was always amazed at how kind and compassionate her team of doctors, nurses, and caregivers were during her cancer treatments. A huge thank-you goes out to Shelly's close friends who helped and were at her side during her cancer treatment the past several months, Tammy Pound, Suzie Gaffney, and Doug Wessen.

She is survived by her daughter Raegan Eidsness-Haugse, Laura Monteverdi (Brock's girlfriend at the time of his death, who always referred to Shelly as her "mother in love") of Little Rock Arkansas, mother Gloria Haugse, sister Terri (Bob) Thompson of Fargo ND, brother Steve Haugse (Arlene) of Boise ID, brother Don Haugse (Tina), nieces, Nikki, Alicia, Trista, and Jasmine of Fergus Falls MN, former husband Tim Eidsness, stepchildren Solveig (Chris) Eidsness, Desiree (Shaun) McCurley She is preceded in death by her son Brock Eidsness, stepson Eric Eidsness, brother Randy Haugse, and father Robert Jans.

Please join Raegan and Shelly's friends for a remembrance and celebration on September 9, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 at the Raven Shelter at Auke Rec in Juneau, to say good-bye and share a story or memory. Please bring a side dish or desert to share.

My heart just dropped coming across this! Reagan, I am so, so very sorry! I loved your mom and had no idea she was back in WA nor that she had cancer or I´d have been there for her and you! She was one of the kindest persons I have ever met and remember fondly when Lance (my son) and Brock played baseball together. His loss I know was devastating for her and us all! My sincerest prayers to you and your family. I know she is with Brock now

I interacted with Shelly in Juneau. Working at the Juneau School District and just living in Juneau. She was always sweet, smiling and friendly. I am sorry to read she has passed. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
