Charlie William Blackwell

Charlie William Blackwell, 85 passed away on Wednesday, October 29,2025, in Houma Louisiana where he's resided since 1991. He was born in Tylertown Mississippi, where he grew up on a family dairy farm with his beloved sisters. A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue, from 9:00am until the military funeral service starting at 11:30am. He is survived by his two sons, Charlie Blackwell Jr and Gregory Blackwell; sisters, Brenda Bull, Rita Shands, JoAnn Junot, and Christine Hobgood. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Roy Blackwell and Hazel McKenzie, followed by one sister, Jerry Culpepper. In 1958, Charlie moved to the New Orleans area, living with his sister Joann and her husband Mervin Junot while attending business college. He later settled in Algiers and Terrytown raising two sons, Charlie Jr. and Gregory Blackwell. Charlie worked many years as an accountant, a career he truly enjoyed. He also proudly served in the United Stated Air Force for six years. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and devotion to family.
