Shannon Kellis Naquin, 52, of Chauvin, LA born and raised in Bogalusa, LA passed away on September 4, 2025, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.
Shannon's greatest joy and purpose in life was her family. More than a wife, she was her husband's best friend and greatest supporter, and he was hers - their love a steady anchor through every season of life. Her marriage was her heart's home, a bond of faith, loyalty, and deep friendship that defined her life. She was also a devoted mother and a proud grandmother who gave her life for her children and grandchildren. Every choice she made and every ounce of her strength was poured into them. Her happiest moments were found at family gatherings, where her heart was fullest when surrounded by those she loved most. She believed her greatest calling was to love, protect, and guide her family, and she did so with unmatched devotion.
Her faith in God guided her every day. Shannon kept a prayer journal, carefully writing out prayers for everyone she ever met, and she never stopped believing in the power of prayer. To her, faith and family were inseparable - her way of showing love was not only through her presence and care, but through her prayers and unwavering belief in others.
She had a gift for connecting with people, making friends with anyone and everyone she met. She was the peace in her family's chaos, the one who believed in people when they couldn't believe in themselves, always looking past mistakes to see the good. Strong-willed, opinionated, and stubborn at times, Shannon spoke her mind because she cared deeply. Yet she was also silly and quirky, with a big, beautiful smile and a laugh so loud and joyful that you couldn't help but join in.
Shannon was an amazing daughter, always showing up for her parents no matter what. She walked beside her father during his struggles and, with the same fierce love, brought her momma into her home to make sure she was cared for and surrounded with love. Even while facing her own health struggles, she gave everything she had to them - because family always came first.
Shannon also shared an unshakable bond with her sister. Though they could butt heads, as only sisters can, they were ride-or-die for one another, fiercely protective and always willing to stand together. That loyalty extended to her brothers as well, with whom she shared a strong family connection and deep love. When Popeye came into her life, Shannon's family grew even larger, and she embraced them with the same unconditional love, strength, and loyalty she gave her own. To her, they weren't "in-laws" - they were truly family, and she cherished them deeply. For Shannon, that kind of devotion reached everyone she loved - family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her - because to her, relationships were for life.
She was also a die-hard Alabama football fan, cheering "Roll Tide!" with unwavering pride. If there was one thing that could make her laugh, yell at the TV, and light up with excitement outside of her family, it was her Crimson Tide. Even in the hardest times, that fiery love for her team brought smiles to those around her.
Shannon filled many roles - wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend - and she filled every one of them with love, loyalty, and faith. To know her was to be cared for, prayed for, and believed in. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, laughter, and light that will never fade.
