Passed away suddenly Monday, December 6, 2011 at his residence. Jerry was born May 16, 1943 in Gary, IN to Frank and Georgia (Gilleo) Zugel. Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army. For about 10 years he worked as a butcher at Kroger in Indiana and then moved to the Kalamazoo area in the mid-1960s and continued his employment with Kroger. He then worked as a meat cutter for Eckridge for over 15 years and most recently was employed with Bowers Manufacturing Co. in Kalamazoo for around 10 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed cutting wood, playing with his grandkids on the dirt bike and gator, fishing, feeding fish and watching his grandkids fish and puttering in his barn. Surviving are a son and a daughter, Jerry Zugel, Jr. of Gobles and Cheryl (Bob) Heckman of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, April and Zach; his fiancée, Linda Granada of Vicksburg; step-children, William (Linda) Roe of OK, Mark (Mary) Roe of Pinconning, Steve (Cindy) Roe of Galesburg and Pam (Terry) Roe-Vanderberg of Dimondale; close step-grandchildren, Kelli, Allison and Kevin; siblings, Marge (Ralph) Ehresman of MN and Denny (Dot) Zugel of Allegan; his first wife, Nancy Reddick, to whom he was married for 18 years; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and in 2007 by his second wife, Janice (Roe) Zugel, whom he married February 14, 1986. Friends may visit with Jerry's family from 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Contributions in memory of Jerry may be made to the Mott's Childrens Hospital in Ann Arbor or the Alzheimer's Association. Messages of condolence may be left at:
