Lisa & I met our first semester at Gannon & became fast friends (& Julie was like another little sister) Over the years I've accumulated a great deal of memories, way too many to even consider starting to share those here. Lisa shared in my good times and was always there to lend an ear and support in the difficult times. She was an inspiration and I am proud of all that she accomplished. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

To Mom & Dad, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your sorrow. I wish you peace & will keep you in prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lisa was such an amazing woman. I always had the best time shopping with Lisa and Julie and my Aunt Nada in Erie! I was so excited to be invited to tag along and get to spend the day with her. She is beautiful inside and out and I know she will be in heaven amongst the angels.

For dear Lisa and her family ,friends and beloved pup, At a time when I have no words to truly thank Lisa for her life and contributions, I am thinking she would have those kind words, that smile, those eyes of beauty and encouragement. So all I can say is thank you for you and may you be at perfect peace. I can see you and know this is true. Our days with you in the research lab were the best because you were there and with your unbelievable spirit bringing everyone along. thank you with peace and love to all who love you. always, Sandy

My condolences to your family. I had the honor of knowing Lisa when we attended Gannon University as under graduates. We were together in our service fraternity and she taught lessons that have lasted over these many years. Even though we lost contact, her infectious smile, laughter, and view on life never left my heart. She was truly a person that touched the lives of all of us that were lucky to have been touched by her. No doubt she is laughing and telling jokes as she looks down at us and reminds us that everything is ok. God bless.

Lisa was a fellow Rehabilitation Science Doctoral Student at UF,and later we worked together as investigators at the VA Rehabilitation Outcomes Research Center in Gainesville. I have many memories of time spent with Lisa, but probably my favorite is the time I stayed with her on an upper floor of the building that housed the RORC waiting for the EMTs to come and help get her out of the building because the elevators were out of service. Everyone else had gone. We had a wonderful conversation about her family and mine. When the first responders arrived, they dashed in to pick her up, at which time she took total control of the situation, instructed them on how the evacuation needed to proceed, and so it did. That strength and calm... that's what I'll remember about Lisa most.

I worked with Lisa many years ago at Erie Independence House and CRI. What I remember most about her was her huge smile and infectious giggle. She lit up the room. Her positive energy was a product of her loving caring parents and I'm very sorry for their loss. She was a gift.

I also knew Lisa as a student, but later as a respected colleague and friend. I have many memories of Lisa and they all bring a smile to my face. Reading Mary Ellen's message made me remember multiple occasions of us sitting in one of our offices in the rehab counseling department listening to Lisa telling a funny story and having her get so amused at whatever she was saying that she couldn't get the words out for all of her laughter. She'd get us all laughing, but we couldn't for the life of us make out what the story was that we were laughing about! She'll be sorely missed, but she lived a full and good life, and touched many others in important ways. Prayers and strength to her parents, who she loved dearly, and to Mary Ellen who will always be her mentor and dear friend.

Lisa and I did our PhD studies at the same time. She always was quick to offer kind words, a smile or silly joke. Much like her beloved Golden Retrievers, she always had a "lets go have some fun" outlook on life. I admired her and am so grateful to have known her. The rehabilitation research community has lost a superstar, and I have lost a friend. Prayers for her much loved family, her close friends, and her work family.

Lisa was the first person that came and spoke to me when I started working at the VA in 2006. She was truly a "light" to me every day I was there. We could talk about anything, and she made me laugh. You will be missed, but I know you are watching over us, my friend.

Dear Lisa,

Thank is the last message you communicated to me via text. I know you meant to text "Thanks" and the phone was giving you trouble (again!) by leaving out the s. But your message was perfect and I take it as a directive. I will thank.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my mentor, my colleague, my friend. And for being exactly you. My life is forever changed after having had the privilege and honor of working so closely with such a spectacular human being and scientist. And I promise that I will continue to apply the inspiration you shared with me to my work going forward.

Your funeral day will mark exactly one year of our meeting. So for me it will be both a very special friend-iversary and a time to celebrate your homecoming.

I wish you a very safe journey into the heart of God. May your spirit be safe, may your spirit be healthy, may your spirit be happy, may your spirit live in peace dear Lisa.

With all my love and my highest respects,
Jai
