Frederick V. Anderson, 98, previously of Kinzua Ave. passed away Sunday (Nov. 9) in UPMC-Kane. ?Born Sept. 7, 1927 in Kane, he is the son of the late Fred and Ruth (Ingaborg) Anderson. ?On August 8, 1950 in Kane, he married L. Connie Hadley, who preceded him in death just two weeks prior to his passing.
Fred enlisted in US Navy South Pacific in February 1945. Honorable discharged in August 1946. Finished High School in 1947. He went to Barber School in January 1948. In 1949 Fred joined the Army National Guard because his brother had joined and his mother wanted him to look after him. He served in Indiana and Germany until 1952.
Fred was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church, the Kane Eagles Club, the Kane Elks Club, the Kane Fish and Game Club and a life member of the VFW Post #1132 and Kane Masonic Lodge 566. ?In 2018 Fred was honored as Kane Citizen of the Year. He had worked as a barber his entire life and was still cutting hair just a few years ago. Fred was an avid hunter. Taking in deer season every fall in Pennsylvania, several trips out west for mule deer and elk and successfully hunted moose for many decades in Canada.
Surviving are four grandsons, Derick (Kristyn) Anderson of Derry, NH, Brandon Thiry of Mt. Jewett, Bryan (Kayla) Morgan of Kane and Jason (Julie) Helsel of Lakewood, NY; a granddaughter, Alana (Lenny) Manz of Southbury, CT; a daughter-in-law, Karen Anderson of Woodbury, CT; five great-granddaughters, Sarina Anderson, Genevieve Anderson, Silvia Anderson, Lorelai Manz and Whitney Morgan; three great-grandsons, Lenny Manz and Landon Manz and Wyatt Morgan; ?and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sons, Fred and Mark Anderson. Fred was one of nine siblings that all preceded his death including Fred's 5 sisters, Marie Gigoilitti-Ryder, Genevieve Cooley, Millie Myers, Evelyn Anderson Miller, and Elizabeth Savoia and 3 brothers Paul, Harry and Carl Anderson
A Celebration of life will be held at a later time. ?Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
