Anne Giroux Obituary

Giroux, Anne E. 84, beautiful mother and grandmother, peacefully entered eternal life surrounded by her loving family at home in the early morning hours of January 12, 2019. Rosary, 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17; Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert "Bob"; daughter, Mary; grandchildren, Meg and Max, and other family members. She will be deeply missed by her devoted children, Robert (Pat) Giroux of Baltimore, Md., Thomas Giroux (Patrice) of Washington, D.C., John Giroux of Jersey City, N.J., Edmund (Azam) Giroux of Deltona, Fla., Angela Scheide (Steffen) of Bethlehem, Pa., Anne (Paul) Jasinski of Wichita, Martin Giroux (Valerie) of West New York, N.J., Raymond Giroux (Norma) of Alexandria, Va., David Giroux of Washington, D.C. and Daniel (Christine) Giroux of Wichita. She was a wonderful grandmother to 23 grandchildren: Nic, Brenden, Jack, Nicholas, Patrick, Sophie, Kimberly, Christopher, Sarah, Oliver, Aidan, Hannah, Daniel, Gabrielle, Taylor, Jake, Robert, Alan, Gregory, Lauren, Alex, Caroline, Elliot, and would have welcomed her first great-grandbaby in February. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Carol Cammuso of Worcester, Mass., Theobald McSheehy III of Columbia, Mo. and Patrick McSheehy of St. Louis, Mo. Anne was born and raised in Whitinsville, Mass., and earned a B.A. from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, N.Y. It was during her first teaching position where she met the love of her life, Bob. Together they raised 11 children. Bob's devotion to Catholic liberal arts colleges took the family from the east coast to Dubuque, Iowa, and Northern Kentucky before settling in Wichita, Kansas. Anne was a sweet, kind and patient woman who loved everyone she came in contact with. She was a wonderful conversationalist and art lover. An avid painter, Anne created hundreds of paintings during her retirement years, many of which she generously gave to family and friends. Her greatest masterpiece, however, is her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Madeline Ontiberos as well as the many caregivers from Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice who provided dedicated and compassionate care to Anne. Anne was an active advocate for the rights of unborn children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Birthline, 339 N. Seneca Street, Wichita, KS 67203. Online tributes may be sent to the family via www.dlwichita.com

Anne was an exceptionally lively women . Her spirit could be felt even in low spirits due to her declining health . She gifted me my first hand held gaming device the "Gameboy" . She was a mother of 11 children . Some of her artwork I have had the pleasure of seeing and it was that figure of expression that really defined strive . Both joy and pain , she just brushed it off on canvases filling each with the colors of love . Lord may those colors now be with you in heaven . God not of the dead but the living may everlasting life be good . I love you .

I was so sad to hear of Anne's passing. She had many friends here at the Bakery. She always had a smile and was such a sweet soul. She gave me 2 pieces of her art to hang in the bakery. One is on the wall of my cake decorators area and the other is in my office. That one she made for my 10th Anniversary of opening the Bakery. She was so very thoughtful. My thoughts are with you all. Miss you Anne! God Bless You.

I was a student at Newman University when Dr. Giroux was President. I did not know Anne well, but I met them often and (of course) went to school with their kids. And I remember her smile. Your family and friends have our family's deepest sympathy.

Anne once sent me a thank you note that I still keep. "The most blessed thing someone can do for a mother is something kind for her child." It resonated with me as my children grew into adulthood. We remember her fondly and keep all of you in our prayers.

Anne was the first grandchild in our family and I, one of the last. Our difference in age, coupled with geographic distance, made it difficult to know one another but I have fond memories of the Gerioux clan coming to visit. My parents spoke so fondly of Susie and Bob, and through them, I did get to know what a wonderful person she was. I am so very sorry for your loss. My love and prayers are with you all.

Some of my fondest memories are in the Giroux house; laughter, philosophy, pranks, God, noise, care, verbal jousting, hugs, government, sports, food... love and family. God now gives Anne the just reward of his care for all she did to care for us. Well done, good and faithful servant! May you now receive the crown of life.

I was honored and privileged to participate in the family prayer service via Facetime the night before sweet Anne passed away. What a great send off for Anne to be surrounded by her loving family comforting her with prayers during the last hours of her life. Anne and all the Giroux's remain in my thoughts and prayers.
All my love, Diane

Anne and Bob were very close to me during my four years at St. Michaels. I was a part of their household and knew and loved their kids. Although in recent years we connected infrequently, I'm sure we shared the same memories going all the way back to Whitinsville with Elsie, Ethel and Essie. I send my thoughts and love to all the Giroux kids. Bob Coontz

My sincere sympathy to Anne's family. I met Anne through a mutual friend, Father McNamara. Anne knew Father when she was in CYO in MA. Father was my Air Force Chaplain in CA. Years later, since we now both live in Wichita, he suggested I contact Anne. We became friends, members of the same parish and shared many same interests. She will be missed

Anne and Bob Giroux became life long friends when Roger served at Kansas Newman College. Our memories are so many and oh, how we appreciated their kindness as Anne hosted our family at many holiday gatherings when we couldn't make it back to New York to see our families. I cannot count the many times we were graciously welcomed in their home and I know that those memories will comfort us forever. Anne was kind, gracious, intelligent and so interested in everyone around her. We know that she will be missed by her family and friends but we can take comfort in knowing that she will be in heaven with her beloved husband, Bob and their daughter Mary as well as the many other family and friends she cherished.
