Dubuque, Iowa - Sister Donna (Blanche) Schauf, BVM, 87, of Mount Carmel Bluffs, 1160 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. All services may be viewed through livestream at https://stream.prestosports.com/bvmsisters beginning at 9:15 a.m.
From 1995-2001 Sister Donna lived in Wichita where she was as director of senior care at St. Joseph Parish and pastoral associate at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Wichita.
She was an educator in Chicago; Boone and Fort Dodge, Iowa; David, Ky.; and Kansas City and Steele, Mo. She also served as pastoral minister in Dubuque.
She was born on July 25, 1937, in Wichita, Kans., to Walter and Ethel Rose (Somerhauser) Schauf. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1955, from St. Joseph, Wichita, Kans. She professed first vows on Feb. 3, 1958, and final vows on July 16, 1963.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerald Schauf, and sister-in-law Jill Schauf. She is survived by a sister Sherry (Robert) Robben, Wichita, Kans.; a brother Thomas Schauf, Pahoa, Hawaii; nieces, nephews and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 69 years.

I very fondly remember Sister Donna, having worked with her at St. Thomas in the school office and our Parish School of Religion. She was a dear friend and a dedicated, generous and grace-filled Bride of Christ. May she rest in peace! My condolences to Sherry and family.

Sr. Donna and I were coworkers at St. Thomas as well as neighbors. She and I both lived in the apartments in the parking lot of the church. I remember her fondly as someone who loved Jesus and others well. Prayers for her fellow Sisters, friends, and family.
