Cecil C. Box Sr.

Box, Cecil C. Sr., 80, formerly of Melbourne, AR, died Saturday, April 26, 2003. Visitation 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Service 11 a.m. Tuesday, all at Hillside Funeral Home East, 935 N. Hillside. He was born July 1, 1922 to Samuel C. and Bertha Box at Violet Hill, AR. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a retired Cessna Aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a veteran of World War II and an ex-POW. He was captured at the Battle of The Bulge and was liberated six months later. He received the Purple Heart and various other medals. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Daunita Rose and a sister, Cleava Moles. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Moody Box; sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Jr. and Connie Box of Wichita, Mike and Linda Box of Violet Hill, AR, Randy and Toni Box of Haysville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
