Dorothy Shannon Obituary
November 25, 1931 - December 10, 2024
Wichita, Kansas - Dorothy "Dot" Shannon, 93, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m., at Cozine Life Events Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwayne Hull Shannon, son Gary Dwayne Shannon, her parents, brother, and sister.
She is survived by her brother, Francis M Smith (Mary Lou Smith); son, Ken (Jan) Shannon; daughter, Karen Shannon (Tamrat Tademe); grandchildren David (Kirsten) Shannon, Julie (John) Melhorn, Besufekad (Eden Tekle) Shannon-Tamrat; Selamawit (Stephen Nuah) Shannon-Tamrat and Sisay Shannon-Tamrat, and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wichita Art Museum and/or Botanica, the Wichita Gardens.

Dot was just the perfect Southern Belle. Always smiling, always gracious. Shared her home with many. I was on the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum board for many years with Dot. But until I was invited to her home, I never knew she was a sculptress! She was always so humble about her great talent. Dot had a wonderful sense of humor. She will missed by so many. Till we meet again. R.I.P.
