Douglas "Alan" Howarter

August 19, 2025

Wichita, Kansas - Douglas "Alan" Howarter, 69, passed away on August 19, 2025. Born in Dodge City, KS, he graduated from Wichita State University and was a respected Certified Public Accountant, most recently with Vess Oil Corporation. Alan was a devoted husband to Barbara Howarter; loving father to Kelsey Rose, Justine Ablah, and Natalie Howarter; and grandfather to Lyle and Lowen Rose. He volunteered for more than 45 years with the Wichita River Festival, American Heart Association, Heartspring, Wichita Public Library Foundation, YMCA/Wisemans, and others.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Rosary will be at 9:30 AM, Mass at 10:00 AM, both Thursday, August 28, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Andover, KS.

Memorial donations may be made to the Wichita Public Library Foundation and Heartspring.
