Doyle B. "Bud" Dailey

Dailey, Doyle B. "Bud" passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Bud was born in San Diego, CA on Flag Day, June 14, 1928. It was a family joke that everyone celebrated his birthday. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nancy; his parents, Blanche and Lenal Dailey; and his two sisters, Dorothy Harvey and Donna Jean Baird. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Lynn Bryan and Mozelle Dodson, both of Wichita; three grandchildren, Cindy Bryan-Hendrix (Paul) of Kernersville, NC, Brianna Revels and Kyle Dailey, both of Wichita; seven great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren. Bud was a World War II veteran having served in the Navy. One of his favorite memories of his time in the Navy was being in port and seeing the only flight of the Spruce Goose. He began his career as a machinist at Swallow Aircraft, followed by working at Harmon Machine, and L&S Machine, before opening his own business, Dailey Machine. He could make just about anything when he made up his mind to do it. After finally retiring, he began woodworking. He was the rock and inspiration for all of his family, teaching all of us many life lessons, as well as how to enjoy life. To him, family always came first. Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing, both with his family and his friends. He made many friends over the years and was well liked and respected by everyone he met, both socially and professionally. Per his wishes, his remains will be cremated and an old-fashioned Irish Wake to toast Bud and share happy or funny memories of him, which will be held on Saturday, August 11, starting at 2:00p.m., at American Legion Post #4, 816 N. Water. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Legion Post #4. Cremation is by Affinity All Faiths Mortuary.
