Frederic Joseph Obituary

Frederic Nieman Joseph

May 9, 1949 - October 31, 2024

Lawrence, Kansas - Frederic Neiman Joseph passed away on October 31st, 2024. He was born on May 9, 1949, to Jean Bishop Joseph and Charles Branine Joseph in Wichita, Kansas.

Fred grew up with his brothers Alan Joseph and Robert Joseph in Potwin, Kansas. As a teenager he learned mountaineering at Cheley Colorado Camps. He graduated from Remington High School in 1967 and attended the University of Kansas. In 1972 Fred married Nancy Knudsen. They raised their four children in Whitewater while he worked the Joseph family farm and ranch.

His deep love of the land and a life spent outdoors is reflected in the memories shared with loved ones. They cherish times of Fred tying flies and waiting for the perfect catch, hiking to the alpine summits of the Rocky Mountains, sleeping in tents whenever possible, viewing an eclipse or storm cloud, looking at the stars on dark nights, attending KU football games, and fishing with grandkids.

Fred is survived by his children Jack, Lesli, Sally, and Drew, his 10 grandchildren, and two brothers.

His memorial service will be held in Butler County on Dec 9th, details pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy.

Ecclesiastes 12:7.
