Frederick Grunning

1951 - 2025

Frederick "Fred" Grunning, 74, of Douglass, Kansas, died November 8, 2025, in Nixa, Missouri, surrounded by family. He was born May 22, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lowell Grunning and Barbara (Grunning) Baker.

Fred spent much of his life as an over the road truck driver, traveling across the United States. His favorite state, by far, was Colorado. He spent many of his adult years in the mountains near Poudre Canyon, where he made several lifelong friends. Everywhere he went, people loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia A. Rollins Grunning; and his niece, Megan Maulorico (Nathan).

Fred is survived by his sister, Jo'Ann Grunning Coleman; his stepdaughter, Amy Hess (Darrin); his grandson, Dalton Montalvo (Viola); his nephew, Andy Coleman (Teresa); and his nieces, Cara Salley (Brian) and Kristin Walker (Greg), along with several great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by many cousins who loved him. Among them, his cousin, Jim Neises (Shirley), was not only family but also a beloved lifelong friend.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held December 7, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Monarch Restaurant, 579 W. Douglas, Wichita, Kansas. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
