Hutchinson, Kansas - Harriet Jean "Jeannie" (Mains) Sharp, 86, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. Jean was born August 18, 1938, in Houston, TX, the daughter of Lewis and Ara Virginia (Smith) Gillette. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO.
On April 4, 2004, Jean married John E. Sharp in Wichita, KS. They spent 14 happy years together before his passing in 2019. She had a love of the elderly and worked at Terrace Gardens Retirement Community in Wichita, KS as an activity director for 30 years.
Jean is proceeded in death by her parents, and husband, John.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Mains and Kent (Mary) Mains; one brother, Gary (Diana) Gillette; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a niece and 2 nephews, 2 great nephews, and lifelong friend, Carolyn Jeter.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements and care entrusted to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory.

I´m sorry for your loss. Jeannie was married to my Uncle John. She was a beautiful lady inside and out.
In fact we had their wedding ceremony at my mom`s. Sadly we lost touch over time but I never forgot her & thought about her & John often. Becky Schultz

I worked with Jeannie for many years at Terrace Gardens she was such a happy person to spend a working day with. Shared lots of stories and laughter. We all felt like family and knew each other's families. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. To all of the Mains family I'm sorry you lost such a great lady. Loved by all who knew her.
