Henry Winsor Obituary

Henry William Winsor, Jr.

October 16, 1942 - December 28, 2024

Goddard, Kansas - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henry William Winsor, Jr., 82, on December 28, 2024. Born on October 16, 1942, in Clayton, New Mexico, to Henry William Winsor, Sr., and Ruby Opal Adams, Henry's life was a tapestry of hard work, love, and unwavering integrity.

Henry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Lue; his cherished daughter, Ruby Ann Johnson; daughter-in-law, Carol Joann (Coslett) Winsor; and great grandson, Jeremiah Stukey. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his children; sons, Henry Winsor III, Danny Winsor (Roxanne), Michael Winsor (Vania); daughter, Lanell Montgomery (Mark); his treasured grandchildren, Kristin Crowell (Casey), Kimberly Dyke (Brett), Kelly Stukey (Ben), Chelsie Johnson, Trey Winsor, Tyler Winsor, Kalin King (Christian), Kylie Winsor, Abigayle Montgomery, Allyson Montgomery, Lela Winsor, Zoe Winsor; and eight great grandchildren.

Henry's life was a testament to resilience and passion. A man who began his journey building tanks with his father across New Mexico, Henry then would build a thriving trucking business that brought his family to Kansas. A natural and fierce leader, he lived by the creed: Never ask anyone to do something you wouldn't do yourself. His unparalleled work ethic and expertise made him a pillar in both business and family life. Henry was a teacher for all who wanted to learn and the value of his lessons were immeasurable.

Though he was a man of few words, Henry's actions spoke volumes. Those who knew him fondly called him dad, pa, old man, and buddy- names that echoed his role as a protector, mentor, and friend. Known for his honesty and steadfastness, Henry had a presence that comforted and inspired everyone around him. He was never a stranger to anyone, welcoming all with a warm heart and a strong hand.

Henry deeply cherished time with Mary Lue, whether tending the cattle, watching sunsets at their pastures, or cheering on their grandchildren at sporting events. There was never a prouder set of grandparents in the stands. Their love, unwavering and true, was the foundation of their many successes in life. Together, they set an example of partnership and devotion that will resonate for generations to come. Everything that Henry loved always included Mary Lue.

Above all, Henry treasured his family. Every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren filled his heart with joy. He loved deeply and selflessly, embodying the values of strength, kindness, and humility.

Henry will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched.

A visitation will be Sunday, January 5th, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 6th, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Central Community Church Chapel.

So sorry to hear about Henry. We always enjoyed seeing him when he was taking care of the cattle. We will keep your family in our prayers.

In 2000 Henry hired me to drive, based solely on his belief in me. I am eternally grateful that I knew him.
