Dear Allen family,
I wanted to write a note just to say that I'm so sorry. I went to school with Audra and I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a classmate let alone a sibling and family member. In honor of your son who I only knew briefly, I would like to say "thank you." My sister Dacia graduated with Jake and seeing the pain she feels from this brings tears to my eyes. But that pain is brought by the genuine friend in Jake that she has lost. She speaks higher of that boy than any other she has known, and so once again, thank you for the loving, respectful friend that you put in my sister's life. I know that God in Heaven is taking care of him, and may He comfort you as only He can.
Sincerely,
Debbie Galliart

My Dear Family:
There are no sufficient words to ease your loss, sorrow and grief. I can only say, my heart goes out to you. We will never be able to rationalize an irrational act. I was deeply touched by Sandy Bruce's depictions of your Jake. The fact that he was always willing to help others.....that he befriended those younger than him (what a shining, life long example he gave them), and most importantly, that Jake had a very strong faith in God. I just know he made an impact on many, many lives that no one is even aware of.
I feel sad that I did not know Jake personally. I feel thankful that through your words and the words of others that knew him, that he has touched my heart. Thank you for sharing Jake with those of us that did not have the honor of meeting him.
Jesus said, "You are the light of the world...Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14,14 (NRSV)
Jake definitely was a "light of the world" and I feel strongly his "light" will continue to shine through your family, his brothers and sisters, his friends and even through people's lives he touched, however briefly, that you are unaware of.
Maybe, you can draw on the strength of Jake's knowledge, at a very young age, of how to live and how to treat others which is God's will for all. It takes many years for some of us to learn this and some never do.........
Jake's story will be passed on to my four grandchildren at an appropriate age.
My prayers for your strength, my love from someone that cares and my thoughts of you and Jake for a long, long time to come.

I knew Jake when I worked at Argonia High School the 1996/97 school year. He was a fabulous young man and was always very warm, friendly, outgoing and would do anything to help someone out. I am in awe and shock that he is gone. Jake will be truly missed and he and his family have been in my prayers since I heard of this tragic event and will continue to be in my prayers. Jake is now with an awesome God!!!
Sincerely, Nancy & Shelby Goldston and Brianne Grimm

Though your heart must hold deep saddness at the lost of the one you loved, may it also hold the blessings of the life you shared and the love that will always be a part of you. Praying that God will comfort your heart, uplift your spirits, and carry you through this time of saddness to a place of peace. (Jake's friend- David's Aunt)

And Arapaho prayer
Son: Who is Man Above?
Father: 'Man Above' is the Creator, He is higher than all people and the Universe, He has no beginning and no end.
S:Is He good?
F: He is all good.
S: Then why do we fight other men?
F: Because there is evil in men too.
S: You pray every moring?
F: Our teepee's face the Moring Sun to remind us to give thanks every moring.
S: What if there is no reason to give thanks?
F: Then the fault is within yourself.
S: I'll pray with you tomorrow.
F: No, you must meet the moring sun & great silent alone. It prepares your mind to face the day & makes you thoughtful in all things.
You both as parents did a fine job in having to raise your Son, Just know that 'Man Above' is with you all . And your in our prayers Randy & Esther Andrews,Britt Walters (now Urusquieta) Jessica, & Ms.Em (Emily)Walters.

We are orginally from South Haven and our son Todd, who graduated in 2003, remembers playing sports against Jake. He remembers him as a "cool" guy. Our prayers are with you and your family as well as all the kids in the school. In a small town, everyone hurts when a child is lost. May God hold you close and ease your pain. Brenda,
I don't recall ever having the pleasure of meeting your Jake, but from what Taylor and Junior have told me he was an outstanding young man. It saddens me that the world has lost a young man who I'm sure would have made an impact here on earth. And now I'm sure he will look over his loved ones and will always be your Guardian Angel. I can't even imagine the pain you and your family are going through. My heart aches for you all and I do not know of any words that I can say to help ease your pain. I can only let you know that since I first heard of your loss I have been praying for you and your family that the Lord Jesus give you the strenght to help you to endure the days ahead. God Be With You All.

In our feeble attempt to express our sorrow over your tremendous loss, we turn to prayer and request that your spirits rise "with wings of eagles" to soar in victory with Jake. May such thoughts ease your pain and angels carry you while you begin this journey. Prayers from around this area rise on your behalf.
