Jacob Wambsganss Obituary

ELMDALE - Wambsganss, Jacob Roy "Dr. Jake," 56, of rural Fordville, N.D., formerly of Elmdale, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 in his home at rural Fordville. A service will be held Monday, March 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Christus Rex Lutheran Campus Ministries on the campus of the University of North Dakota. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Parks and Dennis Koch co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Cemetery west of Elmdale. Jacob Roy Wambsganss was born Nov. 9, 1950 in Hillsboro, Kan., the son of Eldor Jacob and Maxine Wait Wambsganss. He grew up and attended school in Kansas. After graduating from high school, he attended college at Wichita State University for his undergraduate degree in accounting, Emporia State University for his MBA, and the University of Nebraska for his PhD. He and Dona Koby were married in Bentley, Kan. on May 22, 1971. She survives. He worked at the University of North Dakota for 15 years and during that time was a Full-Professor, MBA Director and Master of Accountancy Director. In addition to many article publications, he recently published a book entitled Management Accounting for Effective Decision Making. Jacob is survived by his wife, Dona of the home; two sons, Warren Wambsganss and daughter-in-law, Amy Wambsganss of Van Horne, Iowa, Jay Wambsganss of Grand Forks, N.D.; his mother, Maxine Wambsganss of Silver City, Iowa, formerly of rural Elmdale; one sister, Tilda Wambsganss of Silver CIty, Iowa; father-in-law, Ralph Koby; sisters-in-law, Connie Koby and Penney Koby; brother-in-law, Keith Koby; niece, Erica Koby all of Wichita. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldor Jacob Wambsganss and his mother-in-law, Carol Louise Koby. The family will meet friends at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2007 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions to the Jake Wambsganss Scholarship Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
