James Robert Lynch

October 17, 1946 - January 8, 2024

Valley Center, Kansas - James Robert Lynch, age 77, of Valley Center, Kansas passed away on January 8, 2024. Jim grew up near Ness City, Kansas. A librarian and archivist, Jim was a graduate of Ottawa University, Bethany Theological Seminary, and the University of Texas at Austin. After retirement from Bethel College in Newton in 2014, Jim continued to volunteer as an archivist. A member of Heartland Friends Quaker Meeting and the Rise Up Singing Wichita song circle, Jim was a lover of folk and protest music and shared great energy with many social justice activities in the Midwest. A memorial service will be held at Heartland Friends Meetinghouse, 14505 W. Sandwedge in Wichita at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 27th.

Condolences to the family of James lynch he was a mowing customer of mine and was a great person.

Jim was a vary good person a great mowing customer of mine up till recent when i heard about his passing last week. I would mow his yard every two weeks and we would conversate after. Didnt know if he had family in valley but sending my condolences to them.

I have fond memories working with Jim on the board of the Peace and Social Justice Center of South Central Kansas. Jim was a committed activist and served as secretary to the board. He had a great sense of humor and a special love for Woody Guthrie. Rest in peace my friend.
